Re: Bolster pin Color Alert! Silver+Silver

Loren Snyder

So Bill,
If Robert and Jim ever do meet up at the same show with the same colored pins,......who are you going to bet on?
Now Robert has the age advantage, younger and likely more agile, but.......Jim has the experience that comes with age and could probably cut Robert off at the pass....so, it is any man's guess. Maybe while they are squabbling over the cars, I can pull out my green pen and paint all of them green.....ohh ha ha ha ha ha ha....

Robert:

Almost every car I have had long ago been marked Silver+Silver with a
silver sharpie, except the new cylindrical hoppers I recently aquired.
<snip>
I have a solution though, I'll wear rose colored glasses when I pickup
my cars, and then they will look like salmon belly colored! :)
Just keep Jim Glass away from rose colored glasses if you are both at the
same show. <smile>

Seriously, a sharpie leaves a distinctive paint pattern. I don't know what
Jim uses (enamel paints, latex paints, lacquer paint pens, etc.). Perhaps the
"texture" and "hue" will help to distinguish the owners???

Bolster pin Color Alert! Silver+Silver

Almost every car I have had long ago been marked Silver+Silver with a
silver sharpie, except the new cylindrical hoppers I recently aquired.
Also, I had done all my accordian tracks pieces with 2 silver bottom
ties in the middle. I did not know anyone else was coloring their
bolster pins. I probably have 200+ cars that way, and another 200-300
N Scale cars done the same over the years.

Those were my N-Trak colors when I was in the Snake River Model
Railroaders club.

I have a solution though, I'll wear rose colored glasses when I pickup
my cars, and then they will look like salmon belly colored! :)

More 8592 expansion tracks for sale

Don't know what you folks are paying for 8592 expansion tracks, but if $5.99
is a good price for you, there are 30 more on eBay # 6035699366 as of Friday
night.

After this, I won't post on this topic again. You know where to look for
them now.

I did not know anyone else was coloring their bolster pins.
Now you know. And your name is recorded in eternal history, along with the
rest of us. (see the "files" section).

If anyone wishes a change (or deletion) please drop me (or this list) a note
to that effect.

If you take out NMRA hobby insurance, please so note your color markings in
your insurance application. I dearly hope no one every needs to file an
insurance claim for a missing collection, but wouldn't it be great to have some
simple color dot help to recover your collection if something did happen?

I seen your cars at the NTS Bill, and thought they were just fantastic!
I remember you talking about having the roofs made available, but I
never heard anything else about it, and like everyone else just forgot.

The past 12 months was an easy 12 to forget about projects, as there
were so many cool releases to steal our attention, but I am interested
in getting roofs to convert the European passenger cars to US looking
ones. Your cars look great, and I would love to have a set.

Sorry, but who is it that maintains this list?
I do, and Rob Albritton is the list co-owner and can access it as well.

And did the list start over at one point?
No. It changes only by owner/user request (addition or deletion) (or
marriage, in one case).

PS - I want yellow/red if that is still a possibility

Rob,

May your overloaded shelves come crashing to the ground and land on the
couplers.......and may MTL be out of those pesky little springs we all
love
and adore so much.......no actually, I wouldn't wish those springs on my
worst enemy. Just ask Ellen next Sunday on chat. She is slowly losing
her
mind to the little things. Just sent her a dozen so she could fix one
car.
Yes, she does misplace a few it seems.

You'll have to paint somewhere else like I did. There is always a spot on
the under belly.

Speaking of that, what happens if we have a little too much wine or maybe
one of Rob's Margies? Maybe some body painting ? :)
