Serena gave Anais a smile and held her arms out, "Yes, my dear, it is."? Her embrace was warm and inviting, not at all what one would expect from someone so ancient.? After the embrace she turned to walk beside Anais and placed a gentle hand on the lady's back, "tell me Anais, is there anything you wish while you and Draven visit?"

Draven stepped behind the ladies and walked silently letting them chat with each other as they walked towards a gazebo in the rear of the garden.? The smell of jasmine filled the air and the night was peaceful as the moon rose on the horizon.

Anais came to embrace the woman tightly. She pulled back to smile at her. Anais never would have expected such a display from an ancient. Surely she knew she was a half breed. "He was more." said a male voice behind them. The man behind them smiled. He was tall, with dark hair and deep crystal blue eyes. He was formidable. Crossing the gardens to where his family stood. "brother, you accepted my invitation. It is so good to see you," Mathias said coming to embrace his brother. "And I take it this is your lady love. She is lovely, Lady Anais welcome to my home."

Anais instantly felt the tension. She did find it a bit odd just how exasperate Serena became with her son for a simple word choice. She was also surprise that the woman would reprimand him for it in front of a stranger.?

She also found it a bit odd the way Draven suddenly decided to dismiss his brother like he was the help. She also noticed he did the same thing earlier when they met Esmeralda.?

It kind of remind her of how dismissive he was with the twins when they were with her. Eventually he sent them away from her.

“How about I join him.” Anais said to Draven with a smile “I can finish the tour of the grounds and since I don’t want to intrude on you and Lady Serena I can give both some privacy and give me some time to freshen up.”

“That’s an excellent idea.” Mathias said offering his arm to Anais. “Shall we?”

"No, my dear, I would like to show you the grounds, myself.? Besides, Mathias is going to be busy getting the refreshments brought out.? Please, my lady remain with my mother and I." Draven stepped up and took Anais by the hand.? It wasn't that he didn't want her to go with his brother, he just wasn't ready for her to be around some of the other people inside.

I have always tried to be close to my older brother, but never felt a closeness from him.? That is what my mother and I were speaking of."? He crossed the floor and sat back down next to Anais again.

He always said his kind look to exploit weakness, that she would have to always stay sharp or they would always use anything her against what ever they thought they could. She just never thought she would have to protect herself against someone who claimed to love her.?

Her tone was soft...measured as she began. First, she took her hands, using her thumbs, she wiped his tears from his cheeks and the kissed both his hands.

“I belong to you, Draven.” She began. “I am yours. I love you. I am your wife and being by your side during this time is the only place I want be. and if after I say this, if you still want me?standing right there beside you when we go to see your father, i?will be right there holding your hand offering you my support.”

She paused again. Taking another deep breathe knowing that he would try to turn this spin this but it still needed to be said.

I mean listening to my private unspoken thoughts is an invasion of my privacy. Did you not think that maybe you might be potentially fracturing the delicate trust we are building?

And the fact that right now you think it okay to now address those private unshared thoughts that you unintentionally heard in your emotionally distress state...thoughts you never asked me if I wanted to talk about...so that you can explain away yours and your mother behavior I have to tells you...that speaks volume to how you think about such an invasion of my privacy that you would risk that trust so that you can attempt to change my mind and make sure?I do not think ill of your mother or you but make sure I do think ill of people who frankly have been rather kind to me.?

Also do not think it’s far of you to use my unshared thought as your opportunity to share personal unwarranted one sided?information, that I did not need to know and never would have asked to learn about with me in order to ensure that you defame these people so thoroughly that you can justify yours and your mother’s bad behavior to me and hopefully I will understand and side with you in that deplorable treatment.

I completely understand you lost your father, Draven. I know what that’s like.You are emotional. I get it ?But being emotional doesn’t give you permission to continue to listen to my thoughts or even to speak on my thoughts without my permission or defame others to justify your behavior. That is a form or manipulation Draven. My father always said that his kind would exploit and manipulate anything they could in anyway?thing they could to gain whatever advantage they could. And that I should Always protect myself. just?never in a million years did I think that these words would apply to someone who says they love me. but at least I know now that when your emotions get the best of you, just such might be the case. But what I do not understand is when you realized you were listening to my thoughts why You didn’t just stop.?I mean listening to my private unspoken thoughts is an invasion of my privacy. Did you not think that maybe you might be potentially fracturing the delicate trust we are building?

And the fact that right now you think it okay to now address those private unshared thoughts that you unintentionally heard in your emotionally distress state...thoughts you never asked me if I wanted to talk about...so that you can explain away your's and your mother behavior I have to tell you...that speaks volume to how you think about such an invasion of my privacy that you would risk that trust so that you can attempt to change my mind and make sure?I do not think ill of your mother or you but make sure I do think ill of people who frankly have been rather kind to me.?

I completely understand you lost your father, Draven. I know what that’s like.?You are emotional. I get it.? But being emotional doesn’t give you permission to continue to listen to my thoughts or even to speak on my thoughts without my permission or defame others to justify your behavior. Then decided that it was too big of a prey to take down on his own and he wasn't that hungry, so he paused and listened again.? In the under brush he picked up on a faster heart beat.? Rabbit.? He moved silently towards it, making sure to not step on anything that would scare it off.? Since he didn't have access to any humans out here, a rabbit would have to do.? He saw it and before it could realize it was being hunted, had it in his hands.? He looked it in the eyes, and using a calming technique, felt it's heart beat slow to an almost sleeping state.? Then he drained it's blood.? The calmness of the blood had a calming affect on him and as the heart beat stopped, Draven's heightened senses also stopped.

With that she continued up the stairs towards her room. Suddenly she felt alone and like an outside her. That she had crossed a line...is that how he wanted her to feel... for daring to call out his behavior.?

Lady Serena seemed nice enough...but after what she had just seen...Anais sighed. She would be happy when her family got here.

Stepping into her room she immediately began to strip. Dropping clothing and shoes along the way. Anais stepped into the shower turning the water on all hot, letting the heat take away her aches.
