(Angus)
?
"I trust the Master, mistress," Angus said simply.? "I do not think he would have asked this of you if he did not truly believe you have the ability."? Watching her run her fingers cover the book, he looked thoughtful. "I know almost nothing about the ways of magic, but the Master did try to explain some things about it to me. He said that it can be like a hot coal buried beneath the ash in a hearth seemingly cold.? But all it takes is for the right breath of wind to come along, clear away the ash, and fan it to life. He must believe that that spark exists within you, mistress.? And there is, of course, the evidence in the unfortunate mishap that transpired earlier."
?
"Is it wise, mistress?"? The servant scratched at his beard for a moment.? "I think the Master knows the risks. Has good reason to, actually.? But it seems to me that he trusts you, at least enough to risk it again."? He looked directly into Mikayla's eyes.? "I know not if it's wise, but I do know that it's necessary.? Otherwise the Master must stay a dragon, and the other---" he stopped suddenly, looking as if he had been about to say something but realized he shouldn't "...and he doesn't want that. Not at all, mistress."

?- Mikayla -
Mikayla sighed and began to pace again. "That is what I mean, Angus. Do you have any idea how much tremendous pressure that is to put upon me? Me. Someone who has never done magic before ever in my life and now I am suddenly not only master it, but master it enough to be the savior to your master needs to save both you and he." She turned then, covering her face. "it just feels too much," She whispered.
"But I am supposed to trust the master. I do not even know the master. All I know is that when I am with him he soothes and calms me. And I do not know why. And now that he is not here my mind and world is in turmoil." She started pacing again. "What if I do something wrong? What if I mess up like before? What if I hurt him again? It is just too much," she said turning from him so that he did not see the tears that formed in her eyes.?A shuttered sigh left her then and she put her hands together clasped under her chin.?
With her back to him, she took a deep breath, wipe the tear from her eyes,?before turning back to him. Moving she came to stand before the book. Nodding Mikayla squared her shoulders and opened it to the first page.?
