Re: Elusive Capture: Beaches. Andrew/Evone¡¯

- Evone' -

It took a few moment for Evone' to calm down, her tears falling like rain against his chest. Her tiny fist clinging to him.

"We were all on the pier...it was a beautiful summer day. We were all enjoying ourselves. We were laughing and having a good time. I wanted to get in the water...she told me to be patience that we would. The waves were so high. I wanted to feel the splashes from the spay on my face. So I would get closer and closer to the edge. She told me to stop...but waves were so frothy...they looked like bubbles...they made giggle. I wanted to touch them. I fell. I screamed. She was right there beside me...in the water...tell me everything was going to be all right. She had jumped in after me. But the current was so strong...I was swept away from her...swept under...she swam to me...to me she had me...that she wouldn't go....but the current was so strong...it kept pulling under...I panicked. I...kept pushing at her...pushing from her...were so far from shore...I couldn't see my father anymore...she begged me to calm down...She tried so hard to get me to stop...to trust her...but I just keep pushing and pushing...we went under...I screamed. I couldn't breathe...I just kept fighting and fighting...I wanted to live..."

?Evone's voice broke and she buried her face against Andrew's chest crying again. Hard body shaking tears.

"When I woke up...I was in a hospital. My father beside me, holding my hand. They found my mother a few days later. She had traveled across the river...A fisherman caught her on his line." She finally whispered...her voice soft, so full of guilt

?
Andrew listened and held her close as she talked.
?
"You were a child, Evone'," he said when she was done. "It was an accident. A tragic accident, but an accident notwithstanding. You need to forgive yourself. And to put your fear behind you." He turned and started leading her back to the ship. "We can try again another time, when you're ready."
?
As they approached the ship, the Captain of the Elusive surveyed the repairs. "It's looking good," he said to his ship's carpenter, who saluted as he approached. Looking to Evone', he touched her arm reassuringly. "I believe we'll be able to sail with the tide on the 'morrow. After that, with luck, the next land we see will be France."
