Scarlett smiled
as they walked toward the back of the property, down from the
field of weeds to the treeline. There they worked along the edge
of a 10 foot tall fence untilthey came around to a position
behind the estate. From there, in a wooded area several hundred
yards from the road, in the trees and bushes, they arrived at a
vantage point which gave them a descent view of the backside of
the estate where Scarlett had tracked the cartel members
earlier.
The vampire swept the area with
her vision, which covered infared and enhanced the dim
moonlight. "There's guards up around the house. Maybe six
outside, human."
The redhead looked around some
more and saw movement inside the house through the windows. She
looked to Luke, "Can you see anything with your camera?"
Luke studied the old camera¡¯s screen.? He zoomed the lens and more blurry images appeared in the window.?
¡°Hard to tell. At least two that I know of up there. It¡¯s dark in there or I wouldn¡¯t see anything but a white glare.¡± He hunted the other windows but they were either shaded or there was no activity to see.
¡°That¡¯s all I got.¡± He noticed something on the ground and it gave him some assurance.? A diving board.? That meant there was a swimming pool filled with lovely water. He grinned in the darkness.
