Mikayla smiles softly at Angus, but inside she was lost in thought. There was no way she had any magical abilities. Just no way.
She tried not to wring her hands as she walked, listening to him tell the story of the Dragon. It made her wonder what happened to all the girl who had been her before her? Had they been eaten...set free...Were they not allowed to come back to the village?
Mikayla listened to Angus...show no fear. She feared that maybe harder than it seemed.?Sooner than she was ready they were at his door.?
Show no fear she repeated and willed herself to calm down. As she stepped inside...one look at the Dragon caused her to gasped. He looked small and frail and in so much pain.
Quickly she came to him. But not too quickly. He needed his pride. ¡°Thank you good sir,¡± she said. ¡°Have you broken you fast this morning yet?¡± She asked coming to sit beside him on the edge of the dais.
(Angus, The Dragon)
"I... have not," the Dragon said with an effort.? "I have no... appetite... at the moment."? His neck drooped until it rested on his massive paws, but he managed to turn his head slightly towards Mikayla.? "If... you are hungry... I can have... Angus... prepare something."
The Dragon seemed to lose focus, his expression going blank as his words became mutterings.? "the one... worked... read the... but... hurts... hurts so much... can't..."? He then fell silent for a long moment, his scaly side heaving unevenly with labored breathing.
Then he seemed to recover a bit, his eyes moving around the chamber and then refocusing on Mikayla once again.? "Oh. Welcome back."? He tried to push himself upright, but barely managed to lift his head a couple of feet.? "I thought you...? had..." ?
The Dragon's head fell roughly back onto his paws and he went silent.
Angus came into the chamber to stand beside Mikayla.? "I fear he is still weakened from his ordeal, Mistress Mikayla.? But as hard as it may be to believe, his condition is much improved over what it was when you left."
