Luke nodded to Kitty perhaps a reticence to the previous wink. He said nothing to the Prince but gave him one last exaggerated bow. Best not to think in their sphere or else.
To Scarlett¡¯s question he nodded, ¡°I hope not to ever, you know how that goes. What bothers you most seems to come up time and time again like a bad cold.¡±
Once outside he walked by her side, ¡°I¡¯d prefer not to speak until we clear this block. These guys got so much dough I¡¯d not be surprised if the whole area isn¡¯t wired.¡±
Scarlett MacAleister
She nodded and they walked together through the night to the next block. When they were far enough away, she turned to him to speak.
"I know you're not fond of my kind," she said. "I get it. I'm not offended. I have trouble being around them myself. But a little advice, if you're called to make an appearance before Dario again, you might want to show him a little respect. There are protocols and as hard as it may be to follow them, you should. Because some vampires, especially those like Dario and his court, would kill a human for the slightest disrespect."
She stopped and smiled at Luke, "Just helpful advice, Luke. I'm an exile from my people and Dario is one of the vampires who decided my exile. I don't relish being around him or the court myself, but I know how to act when I am so I don't end up dead.
"As for the investigation, I know where this gangsters are holed up and I believe they are responsible for the deaths we're both interested in. Can we work together?" she asked. "I'm willing to be completely honest and share everything I know if you are."
