Quaker records for WOODHOUSE on Find My Past
开云体育I’ve been looking at some early 18th century Quaker records for Balby MM, In particular at Francis ELLIS who married a Ann WILSON in 1711 & their children (7). From the marriage record Francis was from Dinnington (Yorkshire) & Ann was from Alverton (Derbyshire. Birth records do not show a location of birth! ? These records are from “Woodhouse” and my question is which Woodhouse as there appear to be several in the Yorkshire / Nottinghamshire areas. One near Sheffield which may be the ones shown on Pages headed “Sheffield” there is another at “Wentworth Woodhouse” and then there in one near Mansfield. ? I am trying to see if this family are connected to my Ancestry as Francis & Ann had a Son. William in 1734 who could be the William ELLIS who worked as a Woodman at Wentworth. ? Does anyone have any further information on this? ? Thanks for looking Peter Harris |

1821 Indenture Land Mortgage & People Tadcaster Area
Hi,
I'm a new member of group
I have an old legal document (thought to be genuine and not something prepared for tourists)
it consists of two sheets (76*57cm) bound by tapes & seals on a heavy paper and deals with parcels of land
and people in the Tadcaster area of York
There are some 20 names on the document none of which have any references to our families
I think my wife purchased it to have it mounted/framed as a wall feature, difficult as two sheets and writing on both sides
Until recently it sat in an archive box, and I've transcribed it to see what it's all about, all very complex and still trying to understand
Am thinking the York Group members will recognise the locations and possibly some of the players involved
Basically, I'm looking to flesh out a story about the document and what might have happened down the track, to be kept so people can read if interested
There are ~ 20 names having varying references & roles and the main ones are
John William CLOUGH George SWIFT Richard TOMLINSON Richard MORLEY George SAVILE George ADDINNELL William HARTLEY Stephen HARTLEY? And locations mention include: Tadcaster, Oxton House, Newton Thyme, Wises Intack, Tadcaster Low Moor I've attached the WIP Transcription together with a photo of the document and a section of the binding/seals and signatures ? Cheers Ken Morris New Farm Brisbane 1821 INDENTURE - TRANSCRIPTION WIP.pdf

Hi Maureen, I noticed a couple of trees on ancestry have him dying-one in 1793, and one in 1933. Neither have records, and there is no death on GRO site for 1933 or a few years each way. There are a couple of burials in ancestry, one in? Sowerby in 1827, and
another in 1820 at Southowram, both about the right age. There are other similar deaths, too.? ?After completing a search just under deaths for Joseph, I found that there?are quite a number of? people of similar age around Leeds. Barry

Hi Listers,
I am looking for two FARRERs in my tree. lst one William FARRER b.1758 in Horsforth parents Henry FARRER and Sussanah. The last I have of him is paying Land Tax in 1818. His father died in 1800 and wrote his will in 1795 and Wiliam was mentioned in this will. His mother died in 1818 but had no will. His uncle (mother’s brother) died in 1826 and he wasnt mentioned in that will and his younger brother Benjamin got Fagley estate from his uncle in the 1826 will. So I assume he died between 1818 and 1826. 2nd. Joseph FARRER b. 1764 in Bradford from the same family. Again mentioned in his father Henry’s will but nothing else. Not mentioned in his uncle’s will. I have found a Joseph FARRER death Bradford Cathedral in 1803 saying he was a comber. I know that you often come across AR and not ER but it my searching our lot are usually ER. Regards, Maureen in Oz |

Hi Peter,
I read it as Charton Brook.? I have had a quick look on google maps and family search maps but nothing coming up.?? I also had a look around the location stated on her record - Sheffield, St Nicholas, Bradfield, West Riding, (zoomed in on google maps) and could not find a town or village with that name. It may have been the name of a farm or property. Cheers Wendy On 10/12/2024 8:57 pm, Peter Harris via groups.io wrote:

Re: Location of Charter Brook
开云体育Peter, Yes it looks like the record should have read as Charlton Brook – leaving a letter out obviously confused me! I will look further at the links, etc you have sent. ? Hi Peter, if you are happy with the possibility that it is Charlton Brook there are some references to it on the Bradfield Archives website under rate arrears for a Mr William KING. It was in the township of Ecclesfield. It is item 68885. Hopefully that will help a bit. Regards, Peter?
