Aww Barry, yes it was hot in Perth yesterday, I live here too!? Except I am in Esperance for the Christmas break and it was 10 degrees cooler here.? I hope it cools down for you the next few days.
Whatever the temp, have a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year.

It doesn't feel much like Christmas here given it was 42 C today.
Maybe time to return.......

Hi Peter,
I read it as Charton Brook.? I have had a quick look on google maps and family search maps but nothing coming up.?? I also had a look around the location stated on her record - Sheffield, St Nicholas, Bradfield, West Riding, (zoomed in on google maps) and could not find a town or village with that name.
It may have been the name of a farm or property.
Cheers

Peter, Yes it looks like the record should have read as Charlton Brook – leaving a letter out obviously confused me! I will look further at the links, etc you have sent.

?

Thanks to you, and all the others who have responded on this query.

Hi Peter, if you are happy with the possibility that it is Charlton Brook there are some references to it on the Bradfield Archives website under rate arrears for a Mr William KING. It was in the township of Ecclesfield. It is item 68885. Hopefully that will help a bit.

Regards, Peter?

Re: WHITWAM

Hi Marjorie . Thanks for your email . The only Hannah I have was born 1776 in Golcar to parents Joseph and Mary Rawcliffe . I would think the WHITWORTH was a one off as you suggest .

?BTW? My Sister lives in Chapel .

Kind regards Derek

Noting your surname I wonder if you can answer a query I have.? My GGrandmother was Hannah WHITWAM daughter of Henry WHITWAM and Sarah TIFFANY. This is as spelt on my Grandfather Joseph EDWARDS` birth certificate. However the marriage entry in Halifax register has WHITWORTH and Hannah signed with that name.? Was this a regular alternative name for WHITWAM or just a one off?? Joseph`s brother`s certificate has WHITWAIN but that is obviously just a mistranscription at the registry office.
