Omni Mode?
Hey there! Nice to see theres a little driving community going on for these fellas! I do have a problem since i bought a keystep pro to control some of my synths including the QY. It doesnt matter

Re: Selecting drumkits
I think you have hit the nail on the head - it's more about Cakewalk than the QY but mostly about my incomplete understanding of both and MIDI too haha ________________________________ Sent: 01

Re: Selecting drumkits
akai mpc500 (and the others) claim to have '48 tracks' - but it's a completely different method, with each *pad* having its own sequencer track, irrespective of MIDI. it is completely confusing and

Re: Selecting drumkits
Good points. I never found any other way to set instruments except thru (BankSel/ProgChng) pairs... which is odd, since the QY does it with a single plus/minus button press...but of course they are

Re: Selecting drumkits
Interesting. I often used pattern tracks in my songs, but all CC/MIDI data I kept in the song track 16 IIRCI never used or inserted CCmidi data into pattern tracks, but if one does, I think youd need

Re: Selecting drumkits
That's a thought - I'll try that. For what I'm doing at the moment, auditioning sequences with different kits, having a song that is all drums and NOT sending program changes is not as fiddly as I

Re: Selecting drumkits
Hi Eric, remember your Novation RemoteSL MIDI templates? and that we found out that MIDI CC reset at the top each time, and that sysex commands were better for 'setting'? (parameters) ? actually

Re: Selecting drumkits
One idea is to repeat what you found to be successful but this time have the QY100 recording the commands to a dedicated track... Then keep that track section and copy it to other QY songs as

Re: Selecting drumkits
Hello! And thanks again. I'm just not getting this at all - I send messages from Cakewalk to the QY on Channel 1 and I can select any drum kit by changing the parameter to match the PGM# in the chart.

Re: Selecting drumkits
Hi Giles, the midi implementation pages 4 to 9 indicates that the available drum kits are on CC 1-4 then jumps to 9, then 10 and 17 (that is, no drum kit for CC 5,6,7,8,11,12,13,14,15,16,19, etc.)

Re: Selecting drumkits
Hello! Thanks for this. It's definitely doing something! I sent CC00 and CC32 to correspond to MSB=127 and LSB=0 and then a patch change that matches the PGM# in the Drum Voice list. This worked when

Re: Selecting drumkits
this page explains the Yamaha way of doing things. you have to send BankSelect MSB *and* LSB CCs first, and then the program change. 3 MIDI

Selecting drumkits
Hello! I wonder if anyone can help me? I've been using my QY100s as tone generators driven from Cakewalk. When I've finished creating my sequences in Cakewalk I plan to upload them to the QYs so I can

Re: QY100 display light
David, the ¡°to host¡± port in the QY is 8 pin, and is different to a PS2. It is important to note that THE QY TO HOST PORT DOES NOT HAVE THE VOLTAGE/AMPS TO POWER A USB LAMP WITHOUT MODIFYING THE

Hi All, I found a ps2 USB convertor in one of my drawers at home and unfortunately the pin configuration is completely out. Unless there's something I'm not understanding. Hope to save you time on a

Re: QY100 display light
Thats a SMART idea to 'upcycle/upgrade' a usb LED lamp!Gr8 thinking. I might even risk that DIY hack...altho 4 me I always have the QY using MIDI as its my main sequencer over sound source

Hi Kaltar, that's as usual a great contribution... I particularly like the measurements you made on the (to me useless) TO HOST connectors... actually, next month when the new frontlight will came, I

Prea, When I took my QY100 out of it's box for the first time after being there for decades, I realized the lighting problem too. That's why we briefly talked about it in the QY700 forum. I went out

Hi kaltar, as always your contributions are precious! For short: i had a look at my notes re: QY100 display and: if someone finds a "new old stock" Optrex DMF5020NY-LY I would book one... The QY100
