Re: Getting MIDI Files out of the QY70
Almost certainly same holds for QY70.
The "Data Filers" for those boxes work if the QY* is in "tone generator
mode" (i.e. Ext Sync off, Local off).

Re: QY100 display light
Some people connect an LED (on a flexible pole) to one of the midi ports.
Also, there is a video on youtube about a sidelight mod using LEDs (requires soldering)
BTW, QY70/QY100 with completed

QY100 display light
I'm aware of pages like this one ( http://scope-eye.net/?p=748 ) , but... has anyone found a less risky way?
I mean, a replacement part , OLED or LED backlit, a side or front light guide...

Re: Getting MIDI Files out of the QY70
?ust tested it recently: use the QY100 Data Filer: you just need a valid USB-MIDI converter: tried both with an Edirol UM-880 and a cheap single channel cable.
The trick is to (temporarily) configure

Re: Replacement Power Supply for QY100
ah you have the modern version. the output cable on mine gave way. had to bin it :-(
i'm not sure it's the same as the old version - which you can, uniquely, open: it has screws.
cable on that went as

@QYEdit ? I am far from an electrical engineer, but if I were to venture a guess then I would say Roland/boss might be incorporating a dual transformer noise reduction circuit.... ? or some other

Re: Replacement Power Supply for QY100
Chances are the buzzing is because it is a switching power supply… most of the time this is because a capacitor or possibly an inductor (inductors tend to buzz slightly) might be starting to fail...

Re: Replacement Power Supply for QY100
it's buzzing 'coz it's f***ed, but it won't damage your QY. not as if it's going to flatline and send
direct mains though to a 9-12v device.
i think switching PSU's are pretty good, lightweight.

Re: Replacement Power Supply for QY100
On the subject of Power Supplies. Mine is buzzy/buzzing (Model KPA3).
I stopped using because of this...but is it ok to use? Is it dangerous, potential dangerous?
Just curious if I should throw it

Re: Replacement Power Supply for QY100
QYs are well known for being pretty flexible on voltage, but I think the actual Yamaha branded one (PA-3C I think was the model number, but do double check me on that) was 10 volts, but anywhere from

For mobility, I have seen someone actually power a QY70 thru the DC port with a 5v USB power brick...though I personally would try to find something that could put out at least 10 volts DC so as to

Re: QY100 to DAW with XG Sounds
Hi,
For the sounds, I would simply record via the audio jack, for the midi, I would export the individual track(s) of the song as SMF (Standard midi format), using the QY70 DataFiler program (in the

I’ve just found them, thanks Eric.
I spotted the readme file says they work up to Win7. I’ll see how I get on with Win 10.

Re: Getting MIDI Files out of the QY70
Hi placific,
Yeah, the plan is to replace the sounds with other synths. I like the QY70 for getting song ideas down quickly, and in an actual song format.
These are just demos that I want to get

Re: Getting MIDI Files out of the QY70
Out of curiosity, I assume you're replacing the sounds in Logic? Or do you have some access to the XG library in Logic?
Interested to hear more.
