Chances are the buzzing is because it is a switching power supply… most of the time this is because a capacitor or possibly an inductor (inductors tend to buzz slightly) might be starting to fail...

it's buzzing 'coz it's f***ed, but it won't damage your QY. not as if it's going to flatline and send direct mains though to a 9-12v device. i think switching PSU's are pretty good, lightweight.
