Re: DX7S ORIGINAL PATCHES AND PERFORMANCES

It is all still here as a binary dump:
/g/YamahaDX/files/DX7s/Cartridge/DX7S-ROMCARTRIDGE.bin

Re: DX7S ORIGINAL PATCHES AND PERFORMANCES

I think I have all the required bits (in pieces). I would just have to do some reassembly and figure out how to extract what is on the DX7S factory ROM into order to make sys ex files.

Re: TX81Z patch bank demos

Thanks for such great info everyone!

Daniel- their website hasn't worked in a long time. I got the TX stuff on their eBay page:

PS my photos on the TX demos- some are faked, as I didn't have original tapes or disks. If anyone has a good photo of volumes 3, 5, 7, 8 and 9 that would be killer to have. Or documentation I can post.

From my initial investigation of the V50 banks, a great many TX81Z patches are duplicated, but enhanced. For example, the NY Collection (v50) = Classic FM (TX81Z), but now with FX and better polyphony. The V50 is great and 16 voice poly makes it a joy to play.

Daniel, how do you set your TX81Z's up? Even/Odd is kind of lame, you don't really double the polyphony. MIDI routing in the DAW?

Besides other sets I have another two sets from SSU - R & B Dance and Designer. I have converted them directly from old tapes thanks to CAS application. I did the same with WDB01 library for WX wind controller and TX81z/WT11.

You can try to convert TX sounds in Martin Tarenskeen application TXConvert to other 4-OP synthesizers. Unfortunately only voices, not performances. But it would be possible at least to emulate TX performances in V50. I have now 4 TX81z and 5 V50 (besides many other FM and other instruments), somehow I fell in love with V50. Underestimated instrument…

Hey everyone, to alleviate quarantine boredom I have been making bedroom studio demos of old TX81Z SSU (Sound Source Unlimited) patch banks. I can tell you these will also work in the V50 (although you'll need to manually adjust the polyphony), and the TQ5, but only the patches, not perfs (which to me is the whole point). Another user has confirmed DX11 full compatibility.

Hope everyone is healthy, and avoiding humans by playing your synths.

Michael, check out Bank 06, that has Fantasia somewhere. These are from the old Sound Source Unlimited banks that are now carried by Greytsounds.

Re: Tears for Fears - Everybody Wants to Rule the World - Synth pattern like guitar

Kevin Syler

Walter, I have the Transcription of the intro. If you can get me an email addy, I’ll try to get it to you.?

Re: Tears for Fears - Everybody Wants to Rule the World - Synth pattern like guitar

Kevin Syler

Ive studied this song for several weeks. #1: Curt
Smith is the lead vocalist and Ian Stanley is playing the synth parts. Roland Orzabal occasionally plays along with Ian on the synth riff but Roland also has different rhythms and two leads along with the opening riff. If anyone plays along with or imitate something , it is the guitar behind the Synth chords. From all the videos old and new Ian or Curt Smith are playing the bass part on keys.?

Which is waaaaaaaaaay overpriced, but oh so beautiful!

Re: DX21 and TX7

following the discussion, sounds like wonderful ideas, thor!

though being on no social network, i would sadly miss the patch on facebook then :-((
i don?t think, the group rules would speak against an FS1R patch on this list, hint, hint…

thanks for considering

I'll post the patch on the FS1R Facebook Group when I'm done as well.
