I have a G4 PowerBook that isn’t really being used, so I thought I would run Sysex Librarian on it (there are still old versions on the snooze.net website), to use with my DX7II. It’s pretty ancient though, with a PowerPC CPU, and is running Mac OS X 10.4. I’ve looked at a few MIDI interfaces, like the IK Multimedia iRig MIDI 2, and the M-Audio MIDISPORT 2x2. The iRig MIDI lists OS X 10.6 and later as compatible, the MIDISPORT does list OS X 10.4.9 as compatible. There’s also a mystery brand interface on Amazon (DigitalLife) for $60 I might take a chance on. Does anyone have some experience with MIDI interfaces and elderly versions of Mac OS X? Are the interfaces generally compatible, and the manufacturers just list recent versions of OS X to be safe? Or do the interfaces really have problems, or not work, with older versions of OS X?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
