the only way you will get sounds like that with a fm synth is a sy99 using spectra samples and the fm patches
i use additive synth waveforms and dx7 patches

Hello Bill,
welcome to the group!
I fear you won't have a chance to get such sounds from a DX7. The sounds
in the Technics keyboards are excellent multi samples. The DX7 can do
some kind of vowel like "resonant" modulation, which sound a little bit
like "aaah", but it will miss all the breath and aspirateing, that a
sample can provide easily. DX7 "voice" and "choir" patches sound very
poor in comparison to any sampled voices/choirs.

I agree on the analysis here of vocal patches with DX7 (poor quality), and yes you can do excellent voice patches on the SY99 including full speech or singing. Check the beginning of this SY99 demo, Chick Corea's spoken introduction is samples loaded onto the SY99.
