Re: I want to use a tuner for my ft847!
There are 2 tuners that work with this radio. The FC-20 and the YT847. The YT847 is better in that it allows a PC connection for CAT control AND tuner funtionality. If you install the FC20, you will

I want to use a tuner for my ft847!
I want to use a tuner for my ft847! Whilst I know the FC 20 is used with this radio, I don’t have one but I do have the FC 40 but I can’t seem to find any information confirming that this Radio

Re: FL-7000 Interface with a FT-847
Ho Tom,
I think you are correct, it is just belts and braces to isolate and not a bad idea.
I have just fitted a ptt socket on my K2 using two MOSFETS, the ptt transistor is rated 500vV 20 Amp so

Re: FL-7000 Interface with a FT-847
I don't see why one needs a buffer to connect the PTT in the amp to a
FT-847. Per the amp manual the open circuit voltage is 12V and the current
is 10ma max. The stby jack on the 847 is rated at

Re: FL-7000 Interface with a FT-847
?Hi,
Justin a quick question? What are your expectations? Band change? Or just TX and ALC?
I have both but there is no band change data from an FT847 but you do have standby for PTT. You

FL-7000 Interface with a FT-847
Hi Guy's n Gals.
I recently purchased a FL-7000 & was wanting to interface it with my FT-847.
Was wanting to know if anyone has interfaced their FT-847 with a FL-7000 & could let me know the

Oops, forgot the 2.2k in the upper diagram! See the revised

Re: disable ptt function on rear DATA jack in the presence of isolation transformers?
Hi Rob,
I've not found the need to have an isolation transformer, but yes,
DC blocking is needed to keep the rig from going into transmit. If
you don't have a transformer the

Sorry skip that…… I just couldn't decipher that on a mobile phone …. So small. There should also be a 2k resistor if the equipment uses and external PTT and does not reply on the high side

I don’t see a 10uf capacitor in the FSK out lines?

disable ptt function on rear DATA jack in the presence of isolation transformers?
Afternoon all ,
Checking my understanding of a perceived challenge here with you all:
before buying the bits and prototyping a cable...
It seems that plugging the 847's rear 3.5mm data jack into

Re: TX power meter in HF AFSK data mode mode ??
thanks Greg.
I figured that would be the case as effectively its still SSB just via a different pathway, but always better
to confirm with others.
audio is DEFINITELY getting to the rear of the 847

Re: TX power meter in HF AFSK data mode mode ??
If you're driving the radio too hard it can have a similar effect, drop your TX line out level going to the radio by 80% and see if it transmits but with low levels then gradually bring it up for a

Re: TX power meter in HF AFSK data mode mode ??
If it's actually going into transmit, I'd check your audio path.
The meter should deflect at least a little, showing the transmit
power.

TX power meter in HF AFSK data mode mode ??
Hi All,
A dumb question perhaps on the surface, but when transmitting AFSK data via the rear port of the 847
And not using CAT mode for PTT (as I gather CAT mode expects mic audio through the mic

Re: FT847 Data Problem
Yes I can hear FT8 tones through the speaker if I turn volume up.
If I turn on MONI I can hear my TX tones too.
There is just NIL on RX

Re: FT847 Data Problem
Ok, yeah, puzzled here too.? You might try picking the receive audio off the DIN connector (packet, pins 5 & 2) just to see if it's present there.? That might help isolate what's happening.? I

Re: FT847 Data Problem
Hi Greg
Yes use CAT and the PTT test function in WSJT worked (red) and the radio Tx's (ssb-data)
My TX works its the lack of ANY rx that's the issue.
As I said in my mail, I have swapped the FT5000

Audio routing on the 847 is fixed, so a grayed-out config button is correct.? Receive audio goes to all the ports (Data, DIN, and the speaker), but transmit audio source is dependent on the mode and
