You must have a short somewhere, likely tip to something else.? PTT
occurs when the tip of the plug gets pulled toward ground.? If
there's nothing on the other end of the cable, then both the cap and
resistor will be (should be) unconnected on one end.?

I tried the cap and resistor method as outlined in the manual,
put the radio still goes into TX mode as soon as I plug it into
the data jack. Even with the audio lines on the other end of the
cable unplugged. I'm at a loss.
