I found that an extremely easy way to get set up on the digital modes with the 847 while waiting for components to build the proper data/PTT cable was to use a RIGblaster nomic:
They’ve definitely gone up in price ($100 CDN, I think I pay like ~$70 a few years ago). But it works well. The only downsides to it are that you plug it into the mic jack (hence “nomic”) and you need a sound card (either an external USB or an internal one for your computer). My computer had a built-in sound card on the motherboard that I was used with the nomic as my GPU provided audio through HDMI to my monitor/speakers and I found that the set up worked pretty well.
