bug
Bill Pirtle
Hi all.
I tried to post the following bug report with Clint's group, but he would not allow it. I found a bug in the radio's operating system software that Yaseu will want to fix (hopefully). It is easy to duplicate, and the error handling is not providing for this, and doing it causes the radio to shut down. Simply set all of the channels in one of the memory banks to skip, and then press either the up or down MHz keys to initiate scanning of that bank, and the unit will shut down. Yes I know that the question is going to be asked "Why would you want to scan, when you have set all of the channels to skip?"... well it happened by accident, and the error should be trapped. The user should not be left wondering why the unit powered off. You can duplicate this in any of the memory banks or in the "No Bank" memory mode. The solution would be to display a message to the user, or just beep. I really like my radio, and I'm not complaining, just passing this along for our collective knowledge, and maybe... just maybe it can be corrected for future releases. My unit's serial number 4K 05 0655 BTW I have a VX2R and when I try to duplicate the error on it, a message is displayed "MS Error" --Bill |

No, I don't think so. You can not discuss business dealings on your ham radio (say if your stock broker was a ham, you could not "make a trade" over the air) or use HAM RADIO for business purposes. Such as, using your base station to dispatch taxi's or stuff of that nature.
The office of Amateur Enforcement has nothing to do with transactions or promotions on the Internet. A good majority of the people selling stuff to hams are hams, you don't see them getting hauled off. If that were the case, and it is not, old Gordo West would be behind bars somewhere. I think you are a bit off base and at this point, this discussion is off topic...bring it back to the FT-60. I would send this report directly to Yaesu if I were you.
And this is what you could not post on the other reflector? Hello,
?
Yes Yaesu is aware of this problem and refuses to admit it. There are way to many early FT-60's out there with the same receive problem! Not just my radio!
?
There report to me was that there is no problem with the receive!
I do have to admit their engineer did take the time to listen to my receive problems!

It did not occur to me to try and send it to Yaesu tech support, I just assumed that Yaesu was too large a manufacure of Ham gear to accept bug reports from the field. I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER, I really like their radios, and maybe the reason they make such good radios is that they listen to their customers. FT817, VX150 VX2R, and FT60R --Bill |

I tried to post the following bug report with Clint's group, but heSorry. I passed the message on to Yaesu engineering and to Chip - which I thought was a responsible thing to do. Sorry I didn't inform you of that fact. Clint Bradford |

Let's see...there are over 1,000 FT-60R units in the hands of...clint kicked me off his groups for no reason because idiscovered a receive problem! end-users. There are three user reports of radios being sent out without receivers in them. That, in my humble opinion, does not qualify as a "receive problem" in my way of thinking. Clint Bradford |

Thanks, good radio, good people.. lets move on !!
