Hi.
Anyone know how to switch to AM when punching in frequencies on the aircraft band? I hoped the radio could be smart enough to switch on the fly, when you enter a frequency between 108-136, but mine stays in FM.
Thanks
Chris

Check your menu item #40 - "RX-MOD" should be AUTO so it can figure it out from frequency.

It will default to AM when you enter anything in the 108-136 range.?

Here is a link to a manual for the radio.
Also if you get it into an unknown mode you can always perform a factory reset? which will put everything in a known sate that works.

If you're not sure of the settings, best to do a factory reset. From page 64...
1. Turn radio off? 2. While holding down MONI turn radio on. 3. Rotate the dial to get to the function you want. I suggest F4 ALLRST 4. Press F/W
Just like new!
Have fun with this great little radio!

There might be something wrong with your device as all I do is punch in the frequency and there it is in AM with no transmit allowed. Maybe there's an initial set-up but I don't recall doing it if there was.

Yes. Factory Reset will make your radio the same as it was when you first took it out of the box.

I have had an FT-60 for many years and never
needed to do a reset, but, expect
them to be gone.? The rig after reset should be just like it came
from the factory
and they knew nothing about your preferences, operating habits or
saved frequencies.

I believe there are 2 resets available. I does everything, the other only the menu settings that leave your frequencies and channel info intact.?
Before doing either reset, read the radio and save the info in a file. That can be used later to restore things if you need to.? Jardy Dawson WA7JRD
