Re: FT-60 Possible Problem- suggestions?
开云体育I bought two Yaesu trays and enough Enloop AA batteries to fill them. They appear to hold their charge very well in storage; however, I can't get the clip to close. It appears the Enloops are slightly bigger in diameter. Just enough so the latch won't
clip.?

Re: FT-60 Possible Problem- suggestions?
I think a good solution is to purchase one or two of the AA-cell battery trays for the radio (I just have one tray, but have been thinking of getting one more), each of which holds six batteries. Then get enough Eneloop batteries to fill the trays you have plus one more set of six so you can have one full tray in the radio, one full tray as a spare with you, and be charging a third set of batteries. I have found Costco has Eneloops at very affordable prices: They come in "oddball" sets, with a number of AA cells, some AAA's, and some sets include others (C and/or D) that you can use for other purposes (such as flashlights). Each set I have seen includes a four-battery charger, so you need two sets to get chargers to charge an entire FT-60 load of six all at one time. They claim to have a shelf life of?five years without significant loss of charge (hold "up to 70%"), come charged and ready to use, and can be recharged 2100 times! I have three of the Costco sets, though with just one FT-60 tray, so I have enough AA cells for two loads in the radio plus two loads of four?in my camera flash! (They are a huge improvement in the flash compared to alkaline cells.) The three sets also give me two chargers for the cells used in the radio plus a charger to go in my camera bag. JERRY, N3AA |

开云体育Hey Fred and All, As you said "OH dont throw away the old battery" when you have the time, you can disassemble them, and make an AA battery tray out of them. 73 WN6WJN |

I have seen cheap batteries but do they really last long enough for the price. I prefer to buy good battery at fair price and last 2x longer. Any suggestions on a best mah for the ft-60 also. OH dont throw away the old battery, interstate battery is supposed to have cells you can rebuild them yourself. for me it is easier to buy new and be safe. Also keep older batteries for recv only while other battery charging. at least you can listen in case of emergency times. Just not xmit thats all. I have a original ft-60 battery that is gone basically but for recv it lasts 3 days straight. so dont throw away use them this way iof nothing else. save our landfills somehow !! Re: FT-60 Possible Problem- suggestions?
Hello All
"We are assuming that you are loading a freq within the ham bands, right?" But even if the frequency is out of band, or the capabilities of the radio, the normal behavior is 1) not to allow you to store the out of band values and 2) The radio will not allow you to transmit by beeping and reverting back to a legitimate frequency. It will not shut down and reboot simply because you are out of band?! Or am I missing something. The fact that the radio has been dormant suggest a depleted battery or some bizzar thing happened to it while in storage. If you program anything else, in any other memory will this behavior occur? 73 Wassim WN6WJN |

开云体育Hank,
You might also check the offset.? I did this, and the offset frequency was OUTSIDE the hamabands, even though the recieve frequency was inside the hambands.? I checked the offset and it appears the ARS had somehow gotten turned off, and the the transmit freq was about 2.?? Mhz above the recieve freq.? This was problematic as I was trying to program in a 147.xxx repeater.? Of course I also checked the battery voltage and antenna connector, went thru everything that I thought was pertinent.? Of course, this was the last thing that I checked HIHI. John, KC0JPO On 7/12/2016 4:39 PM, 'hank' hanklane@... [FT-60] wrote: ?

Re: FT-60 Possible Problem- suggestions?
It sounds like the battery voltage is pk under the light load condition of receiving. Batteries often start to fail by not being able to supply high current..

Re: FT-60 Possible Problem- suggestions?
开云体育Yes! Thank you. ? The FT-60 transmits fine on the stock? E-DC-5B car cig lighter charger cord. Voltage reads 12.4 volts on the FT-60. ? I have two stock FNB-83 battery packs that are fully charged neither of which seem to work for transmitting as described and both of which measure 8.4 volts in the FT-60. So I guess the assumption is these batteries are somehow non-functional even though the battery voltage/indicator appears ok. ? The other issue is the problem might be with my CD-29 Drop-in Charger although I don't know how since the charging cycle appears normal with red LED changing to green after cycle ends. ? ? I guess the plan would be to obtain a new FNB-83 battery pack and try that for transmitting. ? Thanks for the assistance. Hank? KB1JLA ? From: FT-60@... [mailto:FT-60@...]
