I have personally experienced three instances of FT-60R being "fatally frozen." That is after selling hundreds of them while working for the planet's largest amateur dealer, and also owning six.

A lot of Prolific cables have fake Chinese chips in them. The latest and greatest Windows drivers are designed to make these cables not work. Try rolling back your driver to 3.2.0.0. You can find

That sounds like the issue I had with a cable with a Prolific (sp?) chip set.? I was actually able to get it to work some of the time, but not very often.

I run the cord for the speaker/mic behind the belt clip do it comes up the other side and put the strain relief loop on the bottom of the antenna. I¡¯ve never had a problem with the connector coming
