Re: Manually Programming your FT-60R - ZOOM
Thanks Clint,
With the popularity of the FT-60 I guess this could be a standing offering. If your schedule permits that is.
Thanks for considering this request, I’ll contact my friends and let

Performed one ... in August - we can certainly do another one!
Let me set up a quick "questionnaire" to determine best day-of-the-week and time for all.

Pretend you bought another, and figure out where to put it. That should

Re: Happy with new FT-60!
My only gripes about the FT-60 are not being able to lock it in scan mode
and forgetting where I stored my speaker mike.
I could buy another speaker mike but Im afraid that when i do,

Re: Happy with new FT-60!
Congratulations Chuck. It’s a great radio and should serve you well for many years.
I sold mine and shouldn’t have. I’m already thinking about acquiring another.

Happy with new FT-60!
For some time, I'd wanted to retire an old Baofeng HT. A year ago I bought a well-used FT-60R from a local ham. It had some issues, including a bent (and subsequently broken off) shaft of?the CHAN

Re: Manually Programming your FT-60R - ZOOM
This will be a great service. A week ago, I’d have jumped in with both
feet. Since then I’ve re-read the instructions and developed the necessary
“muscle memory” to use my FT-60R to full

Manually Programming your FT-60R - ZOOM
Found a need for doing this some more. Back in 2004, Gordon West
and I initiated “pre-programming” HTs for new hams while I was working
for HRO-Anaheim.
Out of that grew a presentation. Back

Re: FT-60 powers off and on when PTT is pushed
Double battery life: get a Smiley 270 or SMA-24 or Pryme RD-98SMA antenna, and turn TX power down to 2W. If you are not making it 2W line of sight on 2m/440 with better antenna, you won't be making it

Re: newbie query.........what and why for all the features?
When I go on long trips I like to put different geographic areas into different banks for scanning and contact purposes.

Re: FT-60 powers off and on when PTT is pushed
I found my battery case and loaded it with 6 AA batteries. The radio is working again. I have 2 and tested both. Both need a new original battery pack. I will purchase from HRO next weekend and I will

For quick and easy refresher hints, www.nifty accessories can’t be beat. They offer mini manuals and trifold wallet cards for a wide variety of radios, both ht and mobile.

Re: newbie query.........what and why for all the features?
Jardy, you’re quite right. I don’t “need” to put memories into banks (and
initially I didn’t), but it makes it convenient to scan only certain
frequencies on one occasion (a charitable event

Re: FT-60 powers off and on when PTT is pushed
Yes, that is a good idea. I don't think the double A batteries last as long as the factory battery but it is easy to replace them in the field.
