Re: Happy with new FT-60!

My only gripes about the FT-60 are not being able to lock it in scan mode and forgetting where I stored my speaker mike.

I could buy another speaker mike but Im afraid that when i do, I’ll immediately find the first one.

For some time, I'd wanted to retire an old Baofeng HT. A year ago I bought a well-used FT-60R from a local ham. It had some issues, including a bent (and subsequently broken off) shaft of?the CHAN dial control, and a cracked display lens, but it worked.
Recently, a well-known equipment vendor had an attractive offer (good price/free shipping) on in-stock FT-60s.
Having earned a few discretionary freelance bucks, I went for it, and now have a brand-new FT-60, along with one that's a bit beat up, but can serve as a spare, or half of a combo for sat duplex. Used CHIRP to save the factory config, then pasted in the channel assignments used for the older radio, and re-did some of the Mem Bank assignments. I had also earlier purchased a spare battery, AA holder and used speaker mike, so I have a nice bit of kit.
Clint's site, and his presentation to our radio club a few months ago, convinced me to remain an FT-60 user.
Having AM Air Band was also a deal-maker for me, and, for now I'm not interested in digital voice modes.
