Check that you have got the SCN MD (set menu item 43) set to MEM.
If it's? set to ONLY,? the scan routine will only scan any memory channels that you have marked as ONLY (which presumably non of

I am having problems getting my FT-60 to scan. I know that scanning has worked on it before, and, don't know if I have set some deeply hidden parameter of something - but - now I'm having problems.?

Apparently, the rubber cover over the MIC/SP & EXT DC on my Yaesu FT-60 been missed placed or lost.

I use to the FT-60 at home with a rooftop vertical. The coax is low loss and rather large diameter. Instead of connecting the big coax to the FT-60 I use a 3 foot length of RG-316 with an SMA

No - you shouldn’t do it.
That adapter and that heavy coax will place a lot or stress/strain on your HT’s delicate center conductor of the antenna receptacle ...

I think the point is that while any radio can be used in an emergency some radios use different protocols, frequencies, etc that not all radios are capable of employing and therefore no one would hear
