Re: Question
That's not really how the radio works. The big current draw item is the power transmit section. If there is enough juice in the battery to transmit, then there is enough juice to modulate. RandyN4QWK

Re: Question
Also, set power to “HIGH” if it isn’t already - press FW, then 3, and turn the dial until HIGH appears. Rick KK6WHJ ***

Re: Question
One simple thing to check is whether the FT-60 battery is charged. If the battery is down, you might be able to transmit enough signal to pop squelch on the repeater, and certainly be received on a

Re: Question
I just went thru this same drill when our club implemented a PL tone after moving our repeater to a higher location. Everything checks out but no voice heard, just a carrier. Assuming you’ve

Re: Question
Dora, If other repeaters act the same way, I would do a Factory Reset. You will lose all data you input but also eliminate the possibility that the software was corrupted. I’ve found that illogical

Thank you Randy. I will try other repeaters. Dora

Re: Question
Heck to see if you have the WIRES function active. Look for what looks like a Atom symbol on the screen. If it is active, the radio would put out an audible tone at first and cut off the first part

Re: Question
If you were scanning for PL tones on page 24 then you need to change the tone from tsq back to tone.

Re: Question
I checked the listing directly on the FCC License Check Website. It is listed as issued in 2015 Dora, did you mistype your call sign? If not I would suggest the VEC team at the organization

It sounds like she's getting into the machine. Others say they can hear the machine key up but not her voice. At first I thought it might be mic gain or something simple like that but since she can

Re: Question
Congrats on getting your license Dora! That is very odd - clearly you're getting out. I agree with Randy, try other repeaters and try simplex. Do you belong to a local club, or know of any local hams

Re: Question
Look up a repeater directory app on your phone, tablet or computer and check the input tones. Some repeaters require one. 73,John N4SME

Re: Question
Dora - That's a good one. You hear yourself on the scanner, so that means that you are modulating. You can kerchunk the repeater, so that means the PL tone and frequency is good. Nobody can hear you,

Question
I just got my tech license recently, and purchased a Yaesu FT-60R portable radio. I read and followed the instructions thoroughly with respect to locating active repeater frequencies in the 2M/70cm

CTCSS on TX but DCS on RX?
Hi folks. Apologies in advance for what is probably an odd question. Can I program a memory channel to transmit with a particular CTCSS, but look for DCS on receive? I'm thinking this might be a
