Just take the cells out, put them in the charger, and put charged ones in.? If you're on a long outing, you just bring along a couple extra freshly-charged cells.

Good point. There is a problem in that many of us, my self included, associate "LiOn" with LiFePO4, with its 2,000 plus cycle capacity. Not the case with what is used in HT batteries.

Me, too. 2700mAH NiMH - that’s twice the capacity of stock NiMH pack. Then improved my antenna - that makes it about FOUR TIMES battery longevity.?

Oh, and when I use an earpiece … What is the first thing you’ll do with the VOLume control? You will turn it DOWN. And what eats up batteries? Keying the PTT to transmit, and loud audio.

BOTTOM LINE: My batteries last forever … (g)

Want to double battery longevity? Turn tx power down to 2W, and use a Smiley 270 or Diamond SRH-320a antenna.

If you are not making it line-of-sight FM voice with 2W, odds are you won,t with 4-5W.

Want to increase battery life even MORE? Use an earpiece or mini-boom mic!
