FT60 Headphones?

I want to be able to use headphones just to listen. Something like a pair of earbuds.

I do NOT want a speaker mike or anything like that.

Does anyone have an easy solution,? like an off the shelf adapter that will work and provide mono audio in both ears?? I understand the TRRS differences plus the mono output and the issues involved.? ?I'm looking for a simple solution like an adapter or cable that does it all.

Forgot to mention that, but that’s what I meant about being “old-school”, back when radios had metal cases and felt solid, not like plastic “walkie-talkies” that we played with as kids.?

Oh, and I don’t like these little bitty tiny ones, either. Don’t get me started.

OK, not as old-school as the old Icom O2, but you know what I mean.

Without the tight latch, there would not be enough compression of the seal. It's a holdover from the basic LMR design of the radio where the radios would be recharged frequently on a desk charger and the battery would rarely need to be removed. It is not the most convenient design for users who have the AA pack or swap batteries frequently.

hmm ok, thanks Phil, I'll try that... just a little compression might do the trick.

Well, I did pick up a second pack for this radio, but honestly, the first one lasts so long I may not use it often. ?

Mostly, I don't want to force it unnecessarily and damage it at all.

Hmm, pocket knife is a good idea.

I'm glad the tolerances are so tight with this radio generally,
including the drop-in charger, but man, I have to use a dime or a thick
guitar pick or similar object to open that battery latch.

Is there a trick to this I'm missing?

Other than that, I see what all the fuss is about with this classic. I
ran nets for a couple hours on 2W last night and still had lots of
battery left!

nope.? I'm not hearing a single 0 sent when I key up.

I'm just talking about the fact that after dialing the last digit, the radio keeps transmitting for a little while, even if the PTT isn't being held down.

I can't seem to defeat this in my Yaesu FTM-100DR mobile either, so it might just be how Yaesu decided to do things.

DTMF Transmit Lag?

Chris Smart

Hi.

I regularly send commands to my Allstar node from my FT-60, but the fact that it keeps transmitting a second or two after the last DTMF is sent keeps me from hearing the first part of any audible signal back from my node. Similar with linking and unlinking repeaters.? Is there a way to turn that off?

A Kenwood HT I have doesn't do this.

I'm seeing menu items for DTMF memory delay and speed, but nothing for what I'm talking about.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Chris

If one isn't making it at 2W and a better antenna, then you probably won't be making?
it at 4W.

Another battery saver: Use a speaker-mic!

Re: What Are My Battery Options?

Many affix the speaker mike to their shirt lapel. Theory is that
reduces the current draw of the audio amp.
