I can't get my FT-60 to Scan

I am having problems getting my FT-60 to scan. I know that scanning has worked on it before, and, don't know if I have set some deeply hidden parameter of something - but - now I'm having problems.? Here is a run? down.

1. I loaded a bunch of repeaters into the FT-60 using RT Systems' FT-60 Programmer.? I got that to work with no problem? They are in the main memory bank.??
2. Everything appears to be working fine, and, they scan as long as I hold down the MHz up or MHz down buttons, but, as soon as I let release the buttons the scanning stops.
3. I have played with the RESUME setting and tried Busy and Time.
4. I have checked and the Skip setting is turned off on all of the frequencies.

Scanning works fine as long as I hold down the buttons, but, as soon as I release them scanning stops.? Anybody got any suggestions.? I'm out of ideas. As I said, scanning has always worked in the past - so -unless I have developed a circuitry problem (which seems unlikely) - it must be a parameter setting somewhere that I'm missing

I have left voicemail and sent a message to Yaesu Parts ... If not available through them, I will gently remove one of mine and send it to you.

Re: N Adapter on FT-60?

I use to the FT-60 at home with a rooftop vertical. The coax is low loss and rather large diameter. Instead of connecting the big coax to the FT-60 I use a 3 foot length of RG-316 with an SMA connector on each end. The shift between Type N and SMA is done at the RG-316 to Type N junction. Damaging a 3 foot jumper that sells for $10.00 if you buy it is far easier to deal with than replacing a SMA snapped off on the radio. Don’t ask how I know. FT-60’s were not built to be serviced.?

Re: N Adapter on FT-60?

Yes - they are made.

No - you shouldn’t do it.

That adapter and that heavy coax will place a lot or stress/strain on your HT’s delicate center conductor of the antenna receptacle ...?

Use a 12” jumper cable instead. But please avoid an adapter for this.

Sorry, this is a pretty basic question but I just don't have one around to test it...

I'm wondering if an SMA to N adapter would fit directly on the FT-60. Just going by the measurements it looks very close (21mm on the male plug). Has anyone tried this?

I believe that usage during an emergency is restricted: only during
emergencies when an imminent danger to a human life.? It is not legal
to use ANY radio in an emergency unless danger to human life.

Quote from Part 97:
§97.403? Safety of life and protection of property.

No provision of these rules prevents the use by an amateur station of
any means of radiocommunication at its disposal to provide essential
communication needs in connection with the immediate safety of human
life and immediate protection of property when normal communication
systems are not available.

Re: Opening up the FT 60/MARS Modificatoin

I think the point is that while any radio can be used in an emergency some radios use different protocols, frequencies, etc that not all radios are capable of employing and therefore no one would hear them.
