Re: mini operating manual or cheat sheet?

I downloaded the PDF version of the? manual into my iPhone after highlighting the most-used functions in the title pages and it works for me.? I've done the same with my other radio manuals, camera manuals, drone manuals and just about everthing else that I need to access when I'm away from my desktop computer.? Since reading the posts about the "cheat sheet" manuals, I may invest!

Microphone

What is the preferred replacement mike for the FT-90?

Re: Increasing Deviation?

I own several FT-60R radios ... starting with the moment they were made available and working then for HRO.

I have never experienced the speaker-mic plug partially disengaging phenomenon - when using a genuine Yaesu speaker mic or other genuine Yaesu audio accessory.

Bit I know that many third-party’s 3.5mm plugs’ TIP is shaped/machines slightly differently than Yaesu’s. As sales manager for an audio accessory importer way back when, I saw this and COULD re-create the problem.?

But never with Yaesu accessories ...

I have seen recommendations to use a rubber band, like grocery stores use, for holding broccoli.? Never tried it though.

Re: Increasing Deviation?

I do the same. I lost the retention?ring within a year of buying the radio. I tried two different attach?points for the ring before it disappeared: the base of the antenna and one of the rotary controls. Neither was ideal or permanent. For durability, I use rubber bands from vegetables, such as broccoli. They're tougher than the office product variety.

Yep, e-Bay is littered with them and a lot of other items for the major players’ products.?

A friend recently needed a replacement microphone for his Kenwood TM-281 2 meter mobile rig. When checking the price it was nearly half the purchase price of a new replacement rig. He turned to e-Bay and in two weeks a mike arrived that looked like the Kenwood, did everything the Kenwood mike did, sounded like the Kenwood mike , but was only $15.00 including shipping. ?I am willing to bet if you look hard enough you could find a biological weapons lab for sale on e-Bay.?

I know the receive on this radio is better than the Baofeng radios. Was at an event using the Baofeng and a guy near me had the FT60 and was hearing things I didn't hear. Got out the FT-60 and the receive came alive.

The one I bought was delivered with a strain relief that fit over the antenna. Then you routed the speaker mike cable through it which worked well for me as long as I felt the solid tactile feedback of the connector actually clicking. If the connector is not protected by some means as you pointed out, it is a good way to inadvertently offend a large audience. ?
