The one I bought was delivered with a strain relief that fit over the antenna. Then you routed the speaker mike cable through it which worked well for me as long as I felt the solid tactile feedback of the connector actually clicking. If the connector is not protected by some means as you pointed out, it is a good way to inadvertently offend a large audience. ?
