Re: cable for chirp
When I got the FT-60R, my first radio, someone told me about FT-60 Commander. I've been using that piece of software now for nearly 2 years. It works fine, but does have one oddity. Occasionally, it

Re: cable for chirp
Hi Chris, I bought a cable from here Ham Goodies http://www.hamgoodies.co.uk/. I had a few issues initially, but that was more to do with Chirp than the cable My FT60 is now programmed with plenty of

Re: cable for chirp
Hi Chris, I was just looking at one of these on ebay. I have one somewhere but looks to have been lost in my many moves... The one on ebay is most certainly a knock-off but you should be okay if you

Re: cable for chirp
went on E bay and did a search for FT 60 cables and this is what I found. I have bought a number of cables from this seller and never had a problem

Re: New vs Old
The eneloops in the FBA-25s worked in both the old radio and new one. However, the new radio is very tight with the eneloops and only tight with the alkalines. The old radio is comfortable with

Re: New vs Old
Poswerswerx/Maha 2500 and 2700 mAH AA NiMH cells fit perfectly in every FBA-25 I own - from 2004 to last month's models of FBA-25 packs. Make sure you feel the "click as you press in the positive tip

Re: New vs Old
I use eneloops at work for wireless mice and keyboards. Sounds like it¡¯s worth taking both radios with the AA packs into work and trying them out. Buying three chargers with 4 batteries each would

Re: New vs Old
That why you see the previous post only uses the 2000 mah instead of the 2500's. The get the higher capacity by making the battery bigger not by using better internals.

Re: New vs Old
I have the same problem (battery case can't be clipped to the radio) with two battery cases using Eneloop batteries. +++++ Jerry +++++ Live simple, love well, and take time to smell the flowers along

Re: New vs Old
Problem I have is the AA battery case for my New FT60 will not close when good hi cap AA's are in it - only alkalines - the NiMh are just a little too big. I have Powerex 2500 Mah cells. -- KQ?J

Re: New vs Old
I don't buy replacements for stock 1400mAh battery on my older FT-60 (circa 2007). I have a AA case and use Eneloops religiously. The only time the stock battery is used is while the Eneloops are

Re: New vs Old
Thursday, 23 Jun at 22:22 EDT - It all arrived this afternoon. As several here suggested, the radio is made in Japan and the batteries in China. The only difference I notice is the new radio stands up

Re: New vs Old
That is technically correct but that being said, I would get three years and more out of a set of cheap nimh cells from walmart that had more capacity then the stock battery pack. I would hook it up

Re: New vs Old
When she first won that radio, my wife was using the wall wart charger that came with it plugged into the side of the radio. At some point, and I can't remember when, I bought her a second battery and

Re: New vs Old
In all honesty, pumping unregulated constant current into a NiMH cells - like what was shipped with the FT-60R until 2013 - is NOT the best way to charge those packs. The intelligent charger that now

Re: New vs Old
Yeah, Jim. I sure hate all the nanny-ism in our bloated governments today. Has anyone compared the R to the E (rest of the world?) version to see if the battery charging circuitry is still in there

Re: New vs Old
You can thank the State of California for that. They began requiring that chargers for devices requiring more than 5 volts or so automatically shut-off when the charge is complete. In order to comply,

Thanks, Joel. I appreciate the feedback. UPS says my new one will be here Thursday. I¡¯ll put it side by side with my wife¡¯s and see how it does. I have figured out hers will charge the battery
