When I start up the radio, it shows 7.4 volts. Don't I have to wait until the low battery symbol comes on before recharging, to avoid damaging the battery?

Does the display blank out when you hit the PTT? ?If so, your battery needs charging. When you turn on the radio, it should display around 8.4 volts. Do NOT have it on any chargers when you do this.

Hoping for advice. I can program the radio for repeaters, and yes set the tone as needed. I hear everyone else just fine. But when I push PTT, I get the 3-tone startup sound and no one hears me. All they get is dead air.?
There's no WiRES icon visible.?
I refer to Page 64 a lot - where the factory reset instructions are. I reset and reprogrammed 2 repeaters again today, and still nothing.
