FT-60 is ECONOMICAL considering its excellent quality. Xmit power 5 watts,
sensitive receiver and all around good HT.? About 50 times better than the
HT you've been using.? They are tough radios and will take a lot of
physical abuse from drops, etc.? Although, drop it the wrong way
and?the trauma?may bend or break-off the volume and/or tuning
controls.
If you purchase after market Li ION battery, make certain you have the
proper charger for that the battery chemistry.??
I've had an FT-60 for about 9 years, and purchased another one at this
year's?Orlando Hamcation, so I would have a backup, just?in case I
somehow?beat?the original?one to death or they?cease
manufacturing?them.? I charged the battery and programmed the new one,
then placed it back in the box.?
As someone else mentioned....be certain you are purchasing the model that
will work on the ham bands in your country.
