Re: VX-3R versus FT-60R
From prior discussions on here, there are three levels of eneloops. If I recall correctly, the Pro level are too large to fit cleanly in the adapter. The other two should work OK. Very slight

Re: VX-3R versus FT-60R
As an FT-60R owner of less than a month, I'm interested in the discussion, especially the battery topic. When I saw that my tired old Alinco and its NiCd batteries would not carry me through a

Re: VX-3R versus FT-60R
The clips on my two FT-60s can be closed when using those batteries, but with a great deal of difficulty. However, I have to use a coin or the tip of a large flat blade screwdriver to get it open.

Re: VX-3R versus FT-60R
I have 2 trays with Enloop batteries. The clip will not close with the Enloop batteries in them. Am I the only one with that problem? +++++ Jerry, NV7GS +++++ Live simple, love well, and take time

Re: VX-3R versus FT-60R
Yes. My post should have made clearer the relationship between Yaesu and Vertex prior to their acquisition by Moto.. 73, Jim K5JG

Re: VX-3R versus FT-60R
Jim, My apologies ¡ your post did detail the history and the prior relationship with Yaesu and Vertex. It is of a historical nature, but so many elements are shared (as you noted)

Re: VX-3R versus FT-60R
Actually, many of us are using NiMH batteries we have bought in AA cell size, the Eneloop brand from Panasonic (who, apparently, bought the brand from Sanyo). You would also need the FT-60 battery

Re: VX-3R versus FT-60R
When I sold my broken FT-60 to a ham for parts, the 8 year old battery pack was still usable. At least half life still in it. -- KQ?J

Re: VX-3R versus FT-60R
No, Vertex is not part of Yaesu. Motorola owned Yaesu (which included Vertex and Standard Horizon) for several years. However, at the beginning of 2012 they spun off Yaesu (amateur & air band

Re: Charging the FT-60 with the desktop cradle
There are grooves on each side of the battery at the bottom that slide onto the charger.

Re: VX-3R versus FT-60R
Hello all and many thanks for the replies to date. I'm hoping to borrow a VX-3E from a work colleague this evening to test against the UV-5R. Thanks for pointing out about band differences

Charging the FT-60 with the desktop cradle
I think I may have a problem with the charging cradle for the HT. I placed my FT-60 into the charger cradle to bring it back up to full charge. The yellow/green/orange light will not come on during

I have two FT-60Rs and use them for satellites and local repeaters. Never had any problems with them in the four years I've had them. Sid W7JSD

Re: VX-3R versus FT-60R
Good point on the receiver - actually I have compared my FT-60R with my Yaesu FT-2900 mobile rig and the FT-60r is less susceptible to intermod and less impacted by strong local signals than the

FT-60 is ECONOMICAL considering its excellent quality. Xmit power 5 watts, sensitive receiver and all around good HT. About 50 times better than the HT you've been using. They are tough radios
