Yaesu FV707DM
Dear All.
I have bought one Yaesu FT707 with external FV707DM, but unfortunately the external VFO has a problem. The thing is, as soon as i press RX buttom, the frequency readout on FT707, jumps to the end of selected band, i mean, if its on 40 Mts, the frequency change to 7,497, on 20, jumps to 14,500, same happens on each selected band. I kindly ask for help to try to solve the issue. I have checked all reference frequencies and all are ok. ( 30; 90;60;Mhz; 10Khz) ?Anyone has the service manual that might share with me? Many thanks in advance and best regards Joao CT2HZF |

If you have a coaxial switch that shorts the antenna terminals of the radio(s) not in use, you may get away with this. If you're using an inexpensive coaxial switch, how well it works in this case will depend on how well the switch isolates the unused terminals from the active one. I don't know about these radio's but anytime you have a transmitter going you don't want any other radios hooked up to the same antenna (with a couple of exceptions) . Also your receiver on a close frequency on another antenna would not be good.? Re: FT-200D digital modes
40 meters should be good for most digital work.
As for the radio-specific interface needed, you might also try the Fox Tango group, which has a lot more members. And there are groups set up for the various digital modes once he picks one or more to try. Ham Radio Deluxe has a free 30-day trial period, but I'd see first if there's anyone near him who can help him set it up before starting the trial so he doesn't waste the 30 days. He'll want it to be working so he can give it a try. I don't use it much but will probably be using it more as I get used to the various digital modes. I use N3JFP for logging. You can get just the one logging program, or for $10 more, get the entire suite of loggers for special events like field day and many more. It's a lifetime license for either the main program or the entire suite. HRD is also a lifetime license but only for that full version or up to 1 year for a new version. After that, you need to pay again to get any new versions, or you can pay a maintenance fee every year and not be concerned about it. If you don't pay the fee, the program is yours to use forever, but you won't have any of the improvements made after the year is over. There's usually a sale for like 30% off around Hamvention time and they had one recently (may still be going on). Tnx Donald,? he is not new to radio and has been idle for a while, but has asked for help,in getting into digital modes!!? He has asked about it and i will endeavor to get him up and running.?? Myself, i am a voice person only. no digital or cw, no computer interface.? i am not keyboard proficent enough, dexterity is non existent for me, hunt and peck at best! The software does not need to be free (he has the funds), but the most user friendly one would be nice...no sense buying different softwares' to find one he will like!! he has the DMU-2000 to go with it and the 40m u'-tune external active filter unit , which is most likely not needed except for? CW, but i digress at that point!!? he seems to like 40m!! Antenna is the 43 ft. Hygain/MFJ unit. he is HOA bound so has limits on antenna selection !!
