FT-1000 no TX between 7.5 & 14.5 mhz
Hi
I received this TRX a few days ago and during the first tests I realized that it doesn't work in TX in the spectrum section as mentioned in the object. They practically remain uncovered the 30 and 20 meter bands, on the others bands apparently OK. For example, up to 14500 khz it does not transmit, from 14501 it transmits. Have you had any experience with this issue? Thank you |

FT-530
Phil Puzick
I purchased a used FT-530 because I heard it was an excellent full duplex HT for satellite work.? However, in trying it out on a local repeater I can’t get the repeater to open. Only the first five digits shown on the radio display in spite of the manual showing a full 6 digit frequency display when manually entered. The PL tone and offset are correctly entered ? It works for simplex use albeit at very short range and shows relative power on transmit.? I drove right up to the repeater location and still could not hit the repeater. The radio has a “Miracle Baby CH-32 comet” antenna on it.? Any thoughts on what the problem might be? ?Should I see the full six digit frequency on the display? |
Re: FT-707 avr board
just an update on this, after repairing the avr board it blew the npn power transistor (twice),traced to a short on the 13.5v tx rail,it was a shorted tant on the pa,got that fixed then no display counter,it just read rubbish, this was one pin of jo6 rf pcb having a busted track,so far have good rx issues to fix on lsb tx as carrier suppression is rubbish, almost have a working radio now,got a few grey hairs doing it tho!,73 m3vuv.

Re: C3240 power Transistor
you should put 2sc at the start of the number ok,also look at the datasheet,,i needed a transistor for the avr board on my ft-707,i looked at the spec and a tip 31 exceeded it so used that,it works fine, infact carries a higher current rating than the original, also i find yaesu use parts that only just work without any headroom, dare say you will find better and cheaper if you find a sub,73 m3vuv.

I was looking for something else in my old email and saw this again. All of the digital programs are not intuitive to set up, in my opinion. An almost all-in-one program would be HRD (Ham Radio Deluxe). It does not have FT-8 built in but works with WSJT-X (the most popular flavor of FT-8). I believe it logs automatically for you when running WSJT-X. There's even a version called WSJT-Z that can be set up to automatically make and receive calls on a given band. I feel that's cheating, though. FT-8 is good to see how propagation is doing, and it wasn't all that difficult to set up. A friend in our club helped me get it working. HRD has RTTY built in. I haven't got that working yet. HRD has some useful tools, too, including one of the better loggers. For logging, even though I have HRD, I use THE N3FJP logger. You pay once and get free upgrades for life. It works well with things like a club field day event, making it easy to combine logs for the day for the contest. For $10 more, you get ALL of N3FJP's logging programs, many of which are for logging special contests. If he creates a new log program, if you purchased the entire suite, you get anything new he develops. I purchased that and though I haven't used the other loggers he developed yet, they're there if I get involved in one of those contests. The total is $59.95 for all of them, I believe, $10 less for just the main one that's very popular. I would suggest your friend join a local club. There will be members there who (hopefully) will want to help him set up FT-8, which gives you a lot of easy QSOs. Note: FT-8 is time sensitive in that if you don't have it synchronized to within a second or less, others won't be able to work you. The transmission and receive time slots have to be "on-time" so that the computers can talk with each other through the radio. Some other digital mode software will no doubt require synchronization, too. You would use a time synching program to get the timing differences with others doing the same thing. Some may be automatic. I use a manual one. Once I was having difficulty in making ANY contact using FT-8. I worked for over half an hour before finally making a call. Then I still wasn't synching up with others until I synched the time and it was fine then. This time synching sounds like it's something difficult to do but it's quite easy. A program has to be installed and you just have to open the program and click a button. FT-8 is the only program I use for digital modes. I use it on my Icom 7300 and my Icom 705 (a QRP radio). some issues in the GIO system. Donald KX8K On Sun, 15 Jan 2023 05:32:31 -0500, "Donald Hellen" <donhellen@...> wrote: Paul . . . ---------------------------------------------------- Some ham radio groups you may be interested in: /g/ICOM /g/Ham-Antennas /g/HamRadioHelp /g/Baofeng /g/CHIRP |

I wouldn't have even seen it if I hadn't gone to the groups.io website and saw the "1" telling me there was still another one I needed to moderate. I went into the group and saw it last evening while I was approving your other two posts. FT-707 avr board
Hi i have a ft-707 with a badly repaired avr board,it had a pnp 220 style transistor in place of the +8v regulator and Q01 npn transistor was dead,i have fitted a new regulator and transistor but wonder what blew it up in the first place,is the avr board a weak area on these radios?,i dont know the story as i brought it like this non working. 73 m3vuv.

That's true even for members who joined but haven't posted messages yet. They will also have to go through new member moderation. You no doubt saw that this is a small group with only 78 members on the group home page from where you joined. It's not going to have a lot of posts like the larger groups have, but you will probably get a few replies.
