Connecting WLANMaus throttle to YD7001

Hi

Now that there is support for multiple throttle connection protocols through the YD7001, I am trying to understand what we need to input into the WLANMaus to get it connected to the port on the YD7001 that is listening for the Z21 protocol.? On the DR5000 there was only one port and it only supported one protocol at a time, so there was no need to input a port number into the WLANMaus settings.

I have the YD7001 connected via the LAN port to a router.? Connecting wirelessly to the router is easy - enter SSDI and password into the WLANMaus?settings.? Next logical step would be to input the IP address of the YD7001 into the WLANMaus settings - I believe I have done this correctly using the information from the YD7001 app on a connected windows computer.? However, I do not know where in the WLANMaus settings to enter the port number that is listening for the Z21 protocol message stream - I can see what is is from the YD7001 windows app, but I do not know where to enter this information into the WLANMaus??settings.

If the port number does not need to be entered, that would suggest that the the WLANMaus is assuming a standard port number.? Does anyone know what that port number is so I can check that it is set correctly in the YD7001 by looking at the app screens?

Thanks for you assistance.

The standard networking port for the Z21 protocol is 21105, you also need to put the address of the YD7001 into the multimaus as the Z21 interface

Many Thanks

Thanks for the very fast response. Once I have entered the IP address for the Z21 interface, do I need to also enter the 21105 port number into some field in the throttle interface?? If I don't, then I would assume the throttle will just use the default value??

Yes, I will double check that the port number for the Z21 interface is 21105.

Thanks.

Note: we have not used these throttles in 3 years so their firmware may be out of date.? I will need to check that tomorrow when I am at the club.

You shouldn¡¯t need to put the port in as it is the default port, but worth checking.

You will 100% need to update the firmware on the MAUS, you can get the firmware at ?

Many Thanks

Jay if you want I can talk you through the steps.

Go to the room

I am there right now, and have my Multimaus setup and running on the YD7001

I don't have access to the??WLANMaus nor the YD7001 except at the club.? I hope to get there this afternoon.

Ian

I will have to update the?
?WLANMaus firmware before the next attempt to get connected.

I will post again after I have more results.? Thank you both for your help.

Ian and Dennis

Success finally connecting the WLANMaus for the YD7001.? Once I updated the firmware to the latest level, they connected immediately and I was able to run trains.

I have added below the process I used to update the firmware.? I searched but could not find anything written about how to do it, so the information below may help others.

Thank you both for your help.? Jay Lennox - Toronto

Updating the firmware was challenging - I had never done it.? Finally determined that I needed to use the Z21 Maintenance tool.? I downloaded this and also the WLANMaus update from the Z21.eu site, unzipped both zip files into a directory, found the Maintenance Tool application in the directory, started it, and then choose the 'Options' on the top line of the app to gain access to the WLANMaus update. Once the Windows PC and the WLANMaus were on the SAME network, the maintenance tool found the WLANMaus, and then I could install the new firmware.? I also updated the firmware for the radio in the WLANMaus.

Hi Jay,
after having succesfully updated my WLANmaus using your information (thanks for this!) I think installing the z21 Maintenance Tool is not necessary. The option for WLANmaus update in the maintenance tool is just starting the WlanMausUpdate.exe program and thus it should be possible to start WlanMausUpdate.exe without the detour via z21 Maintenance Tool. That is the way given in the german instructions who are included in the WLANmaus update tool.

Kind regards
Bernhard

Bernhard

Yes, you are correct.? I missed that.? You can directly start the WLANMaus Update Tool application, and there is no need to use z21 Maintenance Tool to update the WLANMaus. Again I learn something new :-)

When I was trying to figure out the update process for the WLANMaus I found and watched a You Tube video done by a German modeler and he always started at the z21 Maintenance Tool?probably because he has other Z21 components to maintain.

So having been following this thread I decided to update the firmware in my 3 WLANMAUS this morning. So all failed on multiple attempts. I ended up trying 3 different WIFI routers for the Maus and the PC and using the Maintenance app and finally got all 3 upgraded. However in the process, 2 throttles lost all their locos, about 30 locos.

I have tried do do the send - receive to transfer the locos from the Throttle that has all the locos to the other two but it doesn¡¯t appear to work. Receive starts scrolling on the receivers, but pressing OK when on SEND on the transmitter does nothing. Am I missing something?

I have an operating session on Friday so if I don¡¯t get it to work, it will take me a while to enter 60 locos.

Brian

So after lots of attempts, I finally got the transfer of locos between WLANMaus to work.

For future reference:

Firstly, the handsets must be connected to the command system, and the system to be turned on, for the send to start and the receive to happen.

On the Receiver, once you press OK, the Receive changes to RECV.

On the Sender, once you press OK, the display scrolls through the List of Locos. Once this happens the Receive handset also scrolls through the list of locos.?

THIS DOESN'T WORK WITH THE YD7001. Once I connected both handsets to a z21 Start it worked.?

On the YD7001 the Send works but the Receiver just stays on RECV.?

Hope that helps someone else in the future.
