James Good Morning Thank you for your reply. I have just finished testing 40 point Motors in conjuction with a CDU i have now worked out how the 3 way point works. I am going to set up the 4018 and

I've watched James' YouTube video on this and it's not clear how one calculates the CV's for multiple functions on the DR4018.? I've also pulled down the worksheet referred to above, but the

From what I have read ,I think you can only break up the 4018 into two blocks of four. Please post if you figure out some way of doing that

Re: DR4018 From Babs
Three way points are two separate points put together as one unit. You just need to find out if the turnout mechanism is, a single or twin coil machine. Once you Know what you have you can then set up

Re: DR4018 Question
I have to correct my last statement about the preset. I was told previously to try preset 6, I did that and the buzzing persisted. It was not preset 4 that I was told to try. Don Jenkins

Re: DR4018 & DC Question
Here is a quick schematic of the main wiring of my layout. All buss wiring is color coded blue & white starting from the DR5000. All feeders follow the color coding. No issues with operating trains

Kato turnouts are a single coil units , so you should be using Preset # 6

Hi SC, I'm new here and too Model railroading as well. This is what I know about wiring. (A) even though they say it's AC it's just a bastardized VDC (B) VDC or VAC you need to make sure that the

Re: DR4018 & DC Question
I don't use a DC power pack to power the DR4018. I have a 12v 3a AC to DC wall wart power supply. The buzzing starts when the DR5000 track power is turned on even without the wall wart plugged in to

Re: DR4018 & DC Question
With that said then you have a 60hz. humm' from your DC power pack. the cheapest way to fix it is to buy a wall wart 12 VDC power supply. Amazon, Ebay or some local store that sells electronics,

Re: DR4018 & DC Question
I run DCC, so I wouldn't think polarity would be an issue. I do keep a consistent track wiring scheme though. All outside rails are connected to one track power output on the DR5000 and all inside

Re: DR4018 & DC Question
It sounds like a polarity issue. Kato turnouts are power routing units. you may want to switch around the track power wires and see what happens.

Re: DR4018 & DC Question
The turnouts buzz even if there is no external power supply hooked to the DR4018. As soon as the DR5000 power is turned on the buzzing starts. The only way the buzzing stops is if I jumper from the

OK, I was not clear on what terminals. Was interested in the terminals on the Controlmaster 20. Have you tried a different power source to see if the correct the buzzing?
