John,

This is still expensive for what it actually is but more realistic given it includes postage charges

Adam, where did you buy the self assemble bus suppressor kits?

?

It maybe helpful for others if they need them?

Thanks John

Re: Lodi-con with YD7001 via Z21 protocol - bug?

I find this response for Lodi rather surprising given that the Z21 protocol is an openly published document and has been used by many other companies to develop items and not of them seem to have an issue with bidirectional traffic between a Z21 and their product.

As an example I use iTrain which interfaces to the Z21 without issue and that is very bidirectional.

This sounds like a blame game by Lodi to cover up their inadequacy within the controller.

Many Thanks

yes, I'm aware of the YD7001. However, it also just uses the official Z21 protocol, so it doesn't matter whether it's a Z21, YD7001, MD, or any other control unit with the Z21 protocol. For example, our LoDi-Rektor can also use Z21, and it doesn’t work there either because the speed steps get mixed up in the protocol, and the response from the control unit differs from what the handheld controller has set.

?

Yes, that's exactly how it's intended to work in LoDi-Con, and it also works with Ecos, LoDi, CS from M?rklin, and Lenz. However, as mentioned above, the problem with the Z21 arises here. The control unit sends back only garbage to the handheld controller, hence the inconsistency.

?

Thanks Eddie

I had the same issue and they replaced 12 (out of 30) of mine. I use Railcom so turning it off was not an option. I added these about a year ago and the issue cleared up ! ?

no dont use railcom its always turned off?
its the first thing dcc concepts asked

Alan,

?

Do you use Railcom on your layout? If not then switch it off in the YD7001. IP Digitals often don’t play well with Railcom

Hello Forum

some time ago I had problems only with Cobalt ipdigitals connected to the old DR5000 some cobalts would lose or change their address for no reason.

I had many a chat with dcc concepts and they changed all my 54 cobalts with the orange terminals for the new yellow terminals free of charge.

?

so they said it was to do with my DR5000 the DR5000 worked fine in itself but had this problem with cobalts?

I could connect the cobalts to any other dcc system and they worked fine

?

so my question is I have upgraded my DR5000 with the YD9401 would that have changed anything to make a difference to the operation side for cobalts?

thank you

Alan

Hundreds of YD8008 are used in this way, never had complaints about "Humming"?

Best thing to do however would be to use a SMPS of about 15-18VDC.

Karst

It sounds like the 50018 was not set up correctly and you were using it as an On/Off switch rather than setting the correct option for solenoid motors which would explain why the motors were buzzing all the time.

Hi Dennis,

?

Since we moved, we no longer have the layout that used Digikeijs. ?I do not remember setting CV47. ?We used the Digikeijs app to set up the switch decoders.

?

At this time, we are just trying to decide what DCC system to use to run our new layout.

?

Thanks.

What CV47 number do you have set on the DR4018 or DK50018?

Kato Turnouts and YD8008s

We used the Digikiejs DR5000 and DK50018s along with the DR4101s to operate an N Scale layout with Kato track and turnouts. ?They operated well, but the switches had a humming sound when track power was applied.
?
We would like to use the YD7010 with the YD8008 Solenoid Switch Decoders and the YD6940s to hookup a new layout using Kato track. ?

Has anyone tried this setup and if so, do the new Solenoid decoders stop the humming?
?
Thanks,

Yes it can. The MP's are really low current consumers.
