Kato Turnouts and YD8008s
We used the Digikiejs DR5000 and DK50018s along with the DR4101s to operate an N Scale layout with Kato track and turnouts. ?They operated well, but the switches had a humming sound when track power was applied.
?
We would like to use the YD7010 with the YD8008 Solenoid Switch Decoders and the YD6940s to hookup a new layout using Kato track. ?
Has anyone tried this setup and if so, do the new Solenoid decoders stop the humming?

Yes it can. The MP's are really low current consumers.

Waaayyyy too long !! 3m advised, 5m max. from DR4088LN until last s88N module.

UTP is better. Flatcable is not twisted, for which s88N has been designed

You should have, because it is inherent to such cable-lengths ;)

Total Cable length 7m
Marginal, but considering you already ran 18.5m without significant problems, will probably work.
Leg 2 LN to YD6016LN <-----4m----> YD6016CS <----0.5m--->YD6016CS <----1m---> YD6016CS
Total Cable length 5.5m
Very well ! This could very well work in your situation. It almost adheres to the specs ;) Remarks: 1) It's YD6016 ES-CS, not YD6016CS, and it's YD6016 LN-CS ;) CS is the Sensor-Type, ES/LN is the Bus-Type :) 2) we advise: Need "long" distance ( > 3m ) ? Use LocoNet. Below 3m s88N is perfectly safe. Why ? LN is designed for long cable runs. s88N is not. Although the use of RJ45 Network-Cable might suggest this. Greets, Karst

I’m looking for a bit of advice. I plan to extend my Loco detection on iTrain. I’m currently using a Black Z21 connected to 6 devices in the following configuration, these are obviously spread around the layout at point of concentration to avoid long cable runs
Z21 Loconet to DR4088LN <---- 6m-----> DR4088CS <-----0.5m---->DR4088CS <----3m--->YD6016CS
<----4m---->DR4088CS <----5m------> YD6016CS Total Cable length 18.5m

Philip ? The MP6 is like the rest of the MPx range and you put a constant feed into the terminals, the cams inside the motor cut off the power when it has reached the limit. The MP10 Tortoise replacement is the unusual one because you can also drive that by changing the polarity. ? Iain Morrison 07767 456746 ? ?

Colin,
At this German Forum, there are people using the YD7010 for 0-gauge.
?
Note that they use 6 Amp boosters to do the operation.
But if you have your Locos consume less than 3 Amp in total, you would be fine with YD's internal Booster.

Do a continuity test between the supply ground and both outputs, if there is none it should be ok.

If you live in Europe the output should isolated from the input ground, not all SMPSs are. If it had the double insulated symbol (square in square) then it definitely would be.

I think I have succeeded. I have used the diodes in antiparallel and lowered the output voltage.

But I'm thinking of using the one in the first picture which are 19 volts and using some diodes in antiparallel to lower the voltage. Each pair of diodes drops 0.7v and what I would do would be to put 4 diodes in antiparallel which would drop 1.4v. That would be within the voltage range.
Do you see it right?

I found this on EBay and have bought several of these.
They are well built and has the correct size connector.
Would like to see more safety agency approvals.
Comes with the power cord also.
