Re: Throttle for YD7010

I think the one off payment for the latest Z21 app is tempting.? When my old phone with the old Z21 app dies that would be my first choice unless anything else comes to market in the meantime.

It was the CV table that I was suggesting you might be able to help with. He wanted a couple of outputs set for MP1 motors (CV47=6) and the remainder set for 2 aspect signals (CV47=1), I think it was the last 2 outputs for the MP1 and the first 6 for signals.

I do not have experience with the MP1's.

Here is a search of this forum for comments made on the MM1.

Hope this helps.

If you have a problem with the programming of the CV's, let me know and will help you.

Re: DR4018 misbehaving after connection to iTrain

iTrain is not sending anything into a tailspin as it is merely sending a DCC accessory command to tell the accessory to change state. Unfortunately I cannot check any settings in the iTrain TCDZ here and suggest that you post the question with the TCDZ on the iTrain forum where I will be able to check that file.

Dennis Cherry may be able to tell you the CVs you need to change to have some outputs for MP1 motors and others for 2 aspect signals. I can no longer remember the settings required.

The second DR4018 was primarily for 2 & 3 aspect signals (IDs 1-5 so) with 2 MP1s on IDs 13-16 and worked perfectly with CV47=1 and CVs 125-8 set to 11 prior to connecting to iTrain.
So two questions:
  1. Why should iTrain send it into a tailspin?
  2. If I set the CV47=6, what settings do I need for the signals?

Re: DR4018 misbehaving after connection to iTrain

The DR4018 should have CV47 set to 6 for MPx motors.

I use these on my layouts with iTrain and don’t have an issue driving MP1 or signals using CV47=6 for MP1 and CV47=1 for 2 aspect signals

I have been trialling iTrain and as soon as I connected it to the system using LoconetTCP/IP via an ethernet cable, one of the 4018s went berserk, switching the MP1s back and forth constantly.
I managed to reset it using JMRI to program it, although the signals didn't work properly.
I reconnected to iTrain and the same thing happened. I've since been unable to reprogram the 4018 correctly with the previous settings.
I was able to reset the address of it but that's about it. The first 4018 is totally unaffected and also has some MP1s attached.
Could the second 4018 be faulty?

There is a one-off charge which is only ?17.99, not expensive given how much is spent elsewhere on model railways, and Roco have been subsidising so many other manufacturers for so many years that it surprises me that they waited so long.

Yikes! That's quite a bit more than the $300 US that we pay for them here. Can you order them from a US dealer and pay for international shipping?

I use these, ?

There is a Youtube video on setting them up ?

There are more expensive ones that look the same, a friend bought one and it doesn't work as well, so in this case cheaper appears to be better!

Re: Throttle for YD7010

Which game controller do you use Mike?

Re: Throttle for YD7010

I’d give the Daisy-II throttle - tethered via Loconet ( there is a WLAN version that I think would work wirelessly with YD7010 or you could use the Daisy-Ii wireless with the Uhlenbrock Radio Master LN module) - really good throttle - very easy to use - easy to configure - all functions can be latching or momentary…..

Re: BlueTooth Game Throttles

No concrete solutions yet from us.

But... in addition to our YD-throttle investigation/research, also a development project will be started to see if we can connect Bluetooth PS4/5 controllers to our YD7010 Commandstations.

Karst

What would be a recommended wireless / IR throttle for YD7010
Well at the moment we have no offering in that direction.?

However... we started a case-studie in regard to throttles for 2025...?

We are investigating both handheld and stationary. And in the handheld variant both tethered and wireless.

So keep your eyes peeled :) :)

Greets,
Karst

P.S. In the meanwhile we recommend the Uhlenbrock Daisy-II as tethered Handheld.

Re: Throttle for YD7010

Engine driver works with bluetooth game controllers. The ones I use can be used in one hand. The joystick controls speed and direction while the buttons give you five functions.

BlueTooth Game Throttles

The replies about the high cost of a tactile hand throttle ring true for many of us.? If we pay hundreds for every version of loco we desire, why not similar for a well tuned wireless throttle?? On the path of reaching a conclusion, you might try the MagicSee R1 BT game controller which can be paired to a smartphone running Engine Driver.? Cost is under $10 from your favorite Chinese vendor.? Seems to work well for running mainline power.? Speed is joystick controlled.? ?An E-stop and direction button are assigned as are some other basic functions.? ?Once your consist is set up on your smartphone, you put the phone in your pocket or leave on the table and drive with the R1 Game Controller.? ?
?
Are there other (better?? Dial for throttle?) alternatives to the R1 that work with Engine Driver???
?

Re: Throttle for YD7010

Using both tablet and phone apps but I'd still prefer a dial or knob for speed control. Some devices may work with a volume control unit depending on the version of OS.
Also dedicated throttles just sit well in the hand, especially compared with a table.

John,

?

The Z21 app for phones is still free and can be downloaded from the appropriate store, however you need to pay a one off connection fee if you are using it with a non-Roco command station.
