James and Ryan, you are correct - clicking on the "Boosters" tab of the DR5000 Loconet Properties window with more than a few boosters will cause the DR5000 application to hang.? I have no way to confirm if this is a LocoNet overload problem or a DR5000 application problem.? I did a bunch of testing at the club layout to prove this.? Details of these tests follow.

Also proved that I could read and write CVs to individual?boosters from the central DR5000 as long as I did not open the Boosters tab with more than 3 boosters powered up.? To be safe I would suggest no using this tab if you have more than 2 boosters, as my single test is not conclusive proof that 3 will work consistently.

• Powers off the DR5000 command center and all the DR5033 boosters.
• Rebooted the laptop to make sure everything was clean.

Test 1:

• Powered up the DR5000.? Started DR5000 application on laptop and made sure I had a good connection (via USB cable) to the DR5000 by clicking opening USB Properties window.?
• All Good.

Test 2:

• Powered up DR5033 #5 (remember we have 7 DR5033s).
• Opened? DR5000 Loconet Properties window by clicking on LocoNet B.
• Verified that I could read CVs
• Wrote 8 into CV3.
• Read CV11 - got 1000 which is correct.
• Read CV3 - got 8 which is correct.

Test 3:

• Tried to read CVs from DR5033 #4 without powering it up.
• Got TIMEOUT message as expected.

Test 4:

• Powered up DR5033 #4
• Could read and write CVs without problems to #4 and #5 (which is still powered up)
• Opened "Booster" tab - could see boosters #4 and #5.

Test 5:

• Powered up DR5033 #3
• Could read and write CVs without problems to #3, #4 and #5
• Opened "Booster" tab - could see boosters #3, #4 and #5
• Checked and could still read and write to DR5033 #3, so DR5000 application is still OK.? Application was left on the LNCV tab of the? DR5000 Loconet Properties window.

Test 6:

• Power up DR5033 #6
• Clicked on the "Boosters" tab.? Could see boosters #3, #4, #5 and #6 in the list.
• Tried to return to the LNCV tab, but DR5000 application is no longer responsive.
• Had to use Windows Task Manger to kill the DR5000 application.

Test 7:

• Started the DR5000 application again.
• Could read and write CVs to individual boosters again.
• Clicked on Booster tab, and again DR5000 application hung.
• Tried to kill DR5000 application with Task Manger, but unable to.
• Had to restart laptop to get things back to normal again.

Conclusions:

• You can read and write CVs to individual boosters from the central DR5000 using the DR5000 application allowing the configuration of boosters without having to go to each individual DR5033 and plug it, and only it, into a DR5000.? Remember to select DR5033 from the Product Number list on the LNCV tab and set the module number you want to work with in module number field before trying to read or write.?
• Recommend that the Boosters tab of the? DR5000 Loconet Properties window not be opened if you have more than 2 boosters (may continue to work with 3 boosters, but recommend additional testing if you wish to try this). This is not a significant issue as there is very little information on this tab - booster number and some temperature readings.
