Re: DR 5013 and wiring a nonstandard reverse loop with sensor tracks?

Hi Taymar.

Ryan has covered the topic very clearly and conveyed the essence of the capabilities of the DR5013 and you are happy therefore I will not bother with my write up as it says much the same.

I will add a couple points specific to your layout design with reference to your diagram.

The upper reversing loop is as generally depicted in the manual in as much as the Turnout at E can be switched automatically by the DR5013 for your locos to exit the loop.

With your Reversing track J,X,I there are two turnouts to consider and I cannot determine from the DR5013 Manual Page 22 item 6 if you can assign two different turnouts as Entry/Exit routes.

Maybe Ryan can confirm this.

Note: this page P22 is a bit jumbled the tags are not consistent as item 6 appears twice so Digikeijs need to visit this page and correct.

If it is not possible to switch two turnouts when you set up the DR5013 then you may be able to write a short DR Script to switch to the appropriate exit route.

I have no idea of your level of experience with DCC but I assume that as you have chosen DR5088s for the rest of the layout then you intend at some juncture to use RailCom. You should be aware that NOT ALL decoder manufactures support RailCom.

Any more questions?

Colin.
