So I got a chance to mess around in the hanger, this is what I've found.

Ailerons are completely in line with the flaps. There appears to be no 2 degree (or any degree) of upward angle to them. I still need to grab a straight edge and make sure the flaps are right, and then adjust the ailerons to the appropriate "up" angle relative to the flaps. I'm thinking this one at least part of the reason why it starts getting laterally unstable at higher speeds. I'm not sure, of course, but it seems?

The propeller appears to be a Tennesse props 62x42, which is, as expected, far too much propeller for the jab 2200. I need to do some playing with the engine and do some maintenance items before I'm comfortable taking her out of sight of the airport. Hopefully soon though.

I'm thinking 60x38 for the propeller is the norm for the Hawk and jab 2200 combo, Can anyone tell me what they are using on an H? I know Mr Coates has put together quite a few, I wasn't sure what was used with good success,

Thank you all again for your help and insight!

Tom

Using a Newton propeller 60 x 38 on our UK reg Hawk. Works well with 3200 rpm max in straight level flight.
Have an issue with a progressive roll to the left with ailerons, flaps and control stick set to build specs. Adjusting rudder trim has no discernible effect. Going to try the aileron differential remedy commencing with 1 degree difference. Anyone else tried this and to what effect. Thanks?

You can adjust your flaps to counteract a rolling tendency. If yours rolls to the left, lower that side maybe one turn and raise the other by one turn. Another option might be to add a trim tab to the ailerons.

I found the best mix was a Rotax 912 and Kiev 3 blade prop.

So far, I have found only a few options for the Jabiru 2200 powered x-air for a propeller. Prices are USD and as of Feb 2022.

Sensenich makes a ground adjustable model and a wooden prop. Adjustable is about $2000, wooden about $1200 with a 6 week wait.

Ivoprop says their 2 blade medium option will work, $1000, and is available now. I think a 62" might be best in this option since as I understand it, the blades have less resistance than wood so you can swing a slightly larger prop.

Culver props will make one for me with a 4 month waitlist for $650

Performance Propellers USA will make a wooden one with an 8-month wait, $850

Bolly does not make a prop for the 2200, but hoverhawk will make a wooden one in 3 weeks for $1200.

Aero performance in NZ will make a wooden one for about $1600. Not sure about the lead time. (super nice fellow)

DUC prop makes an adjustable model available for around $2200.

Jabiru makes a wood prop and composite options, however, those are actually made of unobtainium as far as I can tell.

Warp drive refuses to make a propeller for Jab 2200s after some rather nasty failures.

Whirlwind also no longer makes jabiru props.

I'm leaning towards the IvoProp or Sensenich wood in 60x38 at the moment. I like the idea of the ivo being adjustable, (and how easy it is to adjust) but I'm not sure about it given the issues Warp had. I haven't seen anyone else running that combination but I'm guessing it's out there.

Does anyone know of any other options I missed, or have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Tom

Hi there

?

In terms of other propeller supplier’s a lot of folk here in SA have opted for the wooden with leading edge protection for their Jabiru aircraft. I personally support the Ukranian company called http://www.nrprop.com who make superb composite propellers with stainless steel leading edge protection at a very competitive price.

?

Take care

Richard.

Micahel, Per the US distributor when I asked, "The Bolly Jabiru?propeller?is only for use on the 3300 engine. The 2200 cc 4-cylinder engine can only use a wood?propeller?because of the very violent power pulses it produces." I'm not sure if he just doesn't want to sell one of those and prefers one that makes more money or if Bolly isn't making them for the 2200 anymore. I'll send an Email to Bolly Au and see if they have something.

Richard, I'll send P-propeller an email ad see what I can find out. I have reached out to nrprop and would like to see about getting one, but I'm very concerned about the current situation there with Russia would cause problems.

Thank you for your help,

Tom

My Sensenich ground adjustable prop on my X Air Hanuman jabiru 2200 works beautifully.

Easy to adjust and accurate in RPM change.

Hi

I have been using the Sensenic ground adjusable prop for 10 years for my jabiru engine. To be able to adjust the the pitch is a high +.
There ís no need to change engine to Rotax 912 due to difficult and high maintance cost and the 3 blade props is a mess in adjusting as I hvae seen. Stay with the engine you have and get sensenic compsite ground adjustable prop -

Hello Brian, I agree with you that the engine of choice is most certainly the Rotax 912 80 hp. It runs rings around the Jabiru in terms of takeoff distance, climb performance and fuel economy.

The people that love the Jabiru engine in the Hanuman airframe just haven't flown the aircraft with a 912 fitted, the difference is unbelievable and almost makes it a completely different aircraft.

Thanks,

Tom

My Sensenich ground adjustable prop on my X Air Hanuman jabiru 2200 works beautifully.

Easy to adjust and accurate in RPM change.

As a Hawk owner of over 10 years the only power plant / prob that in my opinion after hours of research is the Rotax 912 driving a 3 blade Kiev prop.

Hi there

In terms of other propeller supplier’s a lot of folk here in SA have opted for the wooden with leading edge protection for their Jabiru aircraft. I personally support the Ukranian company called http://www.nrprop.com who make superb composite propellers with stainless steel leading edge protection at a very competitive price.

?

Take care

Richard.
