Re: New X-air H Hanuman owner

Hello Brian, I agree with you that the engine of choice is most certainly the Rotax 912 80 hp. It runs rings around the Jabiru in terms of takeoff distance, climb performance and fuel economy.

The people that love the Jabiru engine in the Hanuman airframe just haven't flown the aircraft with a 912 fitted, the difference is unbelievable and almost makes it a completely different aircraft.

As a Hawk owner of over 10 years the only power plant / prob that in my opinion after hours of research is the Rotax 912 driving a 3 blade Kiev prop.

Hi there

?

In terms of other propeller supplier’s a lot of folk here in SA have opted for the wooden with leading edge protection for their Jabiru aircraft. I personally support the Ukranian company called who make superb composite propellers with stainless steel leading edge protection at a very competitive price.

Take care

Richard.

So far, I have found only a few options for the Jabiru 2200 powered x-air for a propeller. Prices are USD and as of Feb 2022.

Sensenich makes a ground adjustable model and a wooden prop. Adjustable is about $2000, wooden about $1200 with a 6 week wait.

Ivoprop says their 2 blade medium option will work, $1000, and is available now. I think a 62" might be best in this option since as I understand it, the blades have less resistance than wood so you can swing a slightly larger prop.

Culver props will make one for me with a 4 month waitlist for $650

Performance Propellers USA will make a wooden one with an 8-month wait, $850

Bolly does not make a prop for the 2200, but hoverhawk will make a wooden one in 3 weeks for $1200.

Aero performance in NZ will make a wooden one for about $1600. Not sure about the lead time. (super nice fellow)

DUC prop makes an adjustable model available for around $2200.

Jabiru makes a wood prop and composite options, however, those are actually made of unobtainium as far as I can tell.

Warp drive refuses to make a propeller for Jab 2200s after some rather nasty failures.

Whirlwind also no longer makes jabiru props.

I'm leaning towards the IvoProp or Sensenich wood in 60x38 at the moment. I like the idea of the ivo being adjustable, (and how easy it is to adjust) but I'm not sure about it given the issues Warp had. I haven't seen anyone else running that combination but I'm guessing it's out there.

Does anyone know of any other options I missed, or have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Tom
