开云体育The Ultralam they are using is basically a clear lamination applied to normal Dacron. As mentioned by John, it seems to have a mind of its own and will without warning just peel off. What is worse and I think this happened in Ireland was it trapped moisture underneath and started to rot the fabric.Alan Daniels ??? is the fabric expert, perhaps you should email him because he is work with nothing but these fabrics are probably 30 years or more John palmettoe@...

The problem with going back to the manufacturer is that they are extremely slow, last time we got a quote they were asking for five months and you only had a choice of a couple of colours which they had in stock and they would not ordering new coloursGartshore gbgartshore@...

开云体育Hello everyone, we have been exposed to several of the sail manufacturers around the world and by far the best is Wingtech in Australia. They have been doing nothing but sails for about 30 years and CAA approved supplier to Airborne who have made thousands and thousands of trikes and hang gliders over the years. They may well also manufacturer for other companies as well.They are using the best quality products you can buy, they have a fantastic colour selection and whilst there is nothing wrong with the original fabric supplied with the X-Air these ones are better. The last time I enquired they were AU$4500 for the complete set. 开云体育Hello,If I could add my 2 cents worth here… The fabric often referred to as “Ultralam” on X-Airs is not Ultralam at all. The shiny material on X-Airs is Dimension Polyant 180LL - a simple mylar/dacron laminate made in Germany that has no special properties. It was developed for the windsurfing market in the 1980’s and was relatively cheap. True Ultralam was made in the the UK by a company (GTS) that has since folded - so the fabric is no longer available. This was a a laminate using Tedlar instead of mylar, which made the cloth virtually UV proof and was rated good for 15 years of sun exposure. This was used extensively on Thrusters in the UK and was certified there for that use. It was an incredibly expensive fabric at the time but represented great value. There is no similarity between these two fabrics other than a shiny finish. We’ve seen many problems with X-Air skins made form 180LL. The lamination can fail under loads where the forces are applied unevenly (eg where a line of stitching is not as straight as it should be) which weakens the cloth alarmingly. The mylar outer coating also becomes brittle over time and can crack. For these reasons we refuse to use 180LL in any of the skins we make at Wingtech. Our hard won reputation for good work is too valuable. We now make X-Air skins only in Dacron. It is hard wearing, comes in a great range of colours and results in really nice looking skins.?? I won’t comment on the quality of skins made by other manufacturers but can say that after 30 years in the industry, our skins for X-Airs, Thrusters & Drifters are as good as you will find anywhere. Sorry to rant but these things are important to me. I hate the idea of pilots getting skins that are anything less than 100% in quality, workmanship or finish. Be careful about the Ultralam from India, I have one plane from India that has never flown or been out of the hangar, no sun light, that has delaminated somewhat. RandKar has made no attempt to cover it in warranty and I've been a dealer for them for years.

Ive done mine . I removed the pod to replace a bit of frame and replaced the nose leg bushes while I was at it.? Like my aircraft , I am old, short, ?fat and slow but still managed to get under the dash, mainly lying unsidedown with legs in the air.? Its straight forward to do but very uncomfortable. My maximum indurance inverted is 10 minutes after which I need a break. Other than the position the aircraft is easy to work on, it all comes apart like Mecano .?
