开云体育Thanks Doug.? I have a CD-19 and have
never used it.? I'll give it a try and see if that works.

开云体育That solved it. I'll have to see what's
involved in coming up with something smaller just for ptt. I don't
want to have to pack the CE-19 and extra cabling around.
Can't be much to it. --- Clinton, VE7KNL On 2021-09-12 2:19 p.m., DougVL wrote: You may need the CE-19 expansion interface.? It has an 'isolating' stage in it that might also be an inverter (inverting the logic level).? Unfortunately, details of the CE-19 seem to be scarce. |

开云体育There really isn't much to this thing.
2 smt transistors. 6 resistors, at least 1 for the pwr led, 2 dip
switches and a relay. I expected to see an optoisolator but don't.
The ptt line goes to a smt transistor, can't read the numbers, then makes its way to a HFD4/3 relay.? It looks like it just picks up the relay and the relay contacts ground the ptt. Maybe a resistor in the circuit too to drop the voltage to 3v for the coil, but I don't have time to keep straining my eyes this afternoon. OK, let's put it this way:
What is the voltage on the 8 pin ACC jack PTT terminal when the radio is in receive mode? What is the voltage on the 8 pin ACC jack PTT terminal when the radio is in Transmit mode? What is the voltage on the CE19 PTT terminal when the radio is in receive mode? What is the voltage on the CE19 PTT terminal when the radio is in Transmit mode? Also, I meant that maybe what you need is an optoisolator to use instead of the CE-19. The CE-19 is pretty small, though.? You could use double-sided tape and stick it to the back of the radio. -- Doug, K8RFT |

开云体育4 vdc in receive, 0 vdc in transmit on
the radio ACC jack.
The CE-19 has 0 V on both receive and transmit, leading me to believe it's just a relay contact. I dug out an optoisolator from the junk box and it's plugged into a breadboard now.? I want to come up with something that is built into the cable. It's not the size of the CE-19, it's just that it's one more part and more cabling to mess with. I like things small, compact and all internal if possible. I'm thinking optoisolator, and/or whatever else is needed, in shrink tube on the cable. I'm packing the radio up and heading out on the quad this morning so doubt much will happen till tonight or tomorrow.? btw, my IC-706 reads 4.5vdc in receive and 0vdc on transmit. It works fine with the transverter.? The one difference is on tx, the 706 reads 4.6 ohms, where the X5105 reads 120 ohms across the acc ptt.? I don't see how that can put the transverter into transmit as soon as it's plugged in, but whatever. I'll come up with a work around. 开云体育Last resort would be manual PTT.? I
don't think it will come to that.
It does both, keys the radio and will key an external device.. via the CE-19. I did find this in the files area of this group. /g/X5105-Users/photo/0/74360.165.0?p=Created,,,20,2,60,0 That looks like the PTT circuit in the CE-19.? Thanks to whoever did that. Saves my eyes. 开云体育Thanks Doug.? I thought I did search
before posting, but not with the right parameters I guess.? I'll
take a look at the posts.

with the right parametersThat's the "key"! In this case, searching for "PTT" or "CE-19" might have given you some results. I often look for info on portable antennas, but others might have called it "field work" or POTA or or SOTA ore even 'activating grid squares'. ? -- Doug, K8RFT |
