Re: WEAV - Wingless Electromagnetic Air Vehicle
Fully agree about all of them "Flying Cars"! A couple at least have even gotten to the harware stage. . .. Or, so they claim. Whatwith the art of CGI these days you can never be all that sure anymore. = Too Many Scammers.
With this WEAV, U of F claims its a lack of a power supply that's their excuse. ~ But, they're "Working" on it! ~ = Yeah. Right!? So, if I claim that I can supe up your Pinto with an FTL Drive that doubles as a Time Machine, do you think I can get folks to start throwing money at me??? They would only have to wait until the technology catches up to my Tekno-Fantasy and then we could all get filthy rich selling the kits at WalMart! --- Hey, its as feasible as UF's BS.? Damn, I wish I had gone and gotten a BS degree at that University of Scammers school like all of these Flying Whatsit conmen! I've been working too darn hard all my life! LOL Keep It FUN! Dan G |

Most of those places have finally got people figured out. State you have something going or your working on and people think they can get rich investing so the money flows in like water. Doesn't matter if it works or not or if the object is ever built. How many "first" flying cars are there out there????? LOL I see another one advertised last week. THIS is why I will always miss the Good Old Days of pre-computer drawing boards. = Ya got an IDEA? Then build a prototype and see if it works. -- Not this Teaser BS of, "Well, it (kinda-sorta) ~ works ~ on the computer!" = It seems easier these days for a bunch of eggheads to sell a Tekno-Fantasy to everyone, then for a writer to sell even a Best Selling original story idea to HollyWeird! FIRST MAN
Caught a trailer for this last week while on the road and thought that it looked GREAT! --- I was kinda surprised that anybody was doing anything about space not involving Spandex or pure SW type Tekno-Fantasy. I guess that we can thank THE MARTIAN's big box office. THANK YOU MARTIAN!!! . . . Still, I was also surprised that since there STILL seems to be tons of Zombies out there who think the Moon landings were all fake, that a studio would risk the online "Flat Earther" type flack blitz. --- But, DAMN! this looks GOOD!!!

Thanks. The dynamite guns are pretty well known. I was hoping this was new to me. Good pictures though! Re: [CoastDefense] William Murdoch - Wikipedia
BTW Terry, you might find this Victorian Age Mil-Hist-Fiction novel (or the whole series even for that matter) rather interesting. = A. Vanner's BRITANNIA'S SHARK: The Dawlish Chronicles April-Sept 1881. It features your Steam Cannon among other items. Like Holland's Submarine.??

Re: Shared Article from AOL: Creepy skull-shaped asteroid approaches Earth
WOW!!! This Is SOOOOO COOL!
I can not believe that we haven't been inundated with Doom & Gloom "prophecies" from all the usual online nutter sources. --- Or did I just miss them? I sure don't remember hearing about any in 2015 when this thing passed by a lot closer. It would seem to me that 2015 TB145 would have been prime meat for them. ---- Hmmmm, ya think maybe we should go start some on FarceBook just to see where they go??? <evil grin> LOL But even without all that this Skull shaped rock would seem perfect for a SyFy channel B-movie or an old Pulp SF story. (both???) = Invading aliens using the shape to intimidate us primitive humans on their way in? (The 2015 pass was just a flyby probe of our reactions and defenses. This time it is The Real Deal!) -- The Classic home base of Space Pirates? -- A space borne Skull Island home for a giant alien King Kong/Godzilla Kaiju type space monster(s)? -- The Empire's new Death Star Squared? The "Eyes" are not one, but TWO Super Lasers!!! (Disney has always gone to unbelievably great heights to market its new flicks and this is just their latest promo idea. LOL) --? --- Or we can Turn Back The Clock and take a look at ancient Norse mythology that describes how the world was created from parts of the body of the first being, a Giant, named Ymir. Has his head come back looking for the rest of himself? What did the old Norse know about our cosmos that we don't??? And -- What About The TIMING -- of this flyby??? . . . I mean, Come On! This SKULL Shaped Rock zooms by on HALLOWEEN??? -- TWICE!!! --- Just Aliens yanking our chains and having a good old Halloween Trick of a treat at our expense, or something far more sinister and dark of a more SUPERNATURAL nature??? Yeah, WAY COOL!!! LOL Thanks for sharing, Terry!!! Keep It FUN! Dan G |

Re: BOOK REVIEW - Sea Miner; Major E. B. Hunt's Civil War Rocket Torpedo 1862-1863 | Naval Historical Foundation
The Soviets got one to work darn well in the late 1970s. The VA-111 Shkval using a solid-fuel rocket engine and supercavitation. But again, a MAJOR jump in both the technology and materials available between the ACW and the Atomic Age Cold War of the 1970s. = I seriously doubt Hunt's version could have been made to work anything like he had hoped, if at all, with what he had to work with. = Another Vintage Age Dream Weapon right up there with Fulton's Underwater Cannon. (at least that survived actual testing) = An interesting and innovative FUN addition to a purely Vintage SCI-FI/Weird War story along with Nemo's Nautilus, Tesla's Death Ray, Griffin's Spaceships, etc, etc . . . but, IMO, just not actually feasibly achievable for the times.
And, like I said, I would be greatly interested in seeing the results of someone, anyone, who could make this work using only the materials and tech available to Hunt himself.? ? Keep It FUN! Dan G |

Re: Unemployment after Alien Contact
That's kinda a Wide Ranged Question, ain't it??? = It would all depend on the type, timing and publicity of the "Contact". As well as the Known and Unknown intentions of the Aliens themselves. All would impact various jobs in various ways. (Not to mention your ability to collect your unemployment benefits if you happen to be one of those unfortunates!!! LOL)?
A lot of difference between a bunch of sneaky Grey perverts kidnapping thousands of people each year, and a mass assault by super tech weapon wielding stormtrooper squid-insectoid-robots. Or shape shifting lizards looking to take over our world governments for their own agendas, and spacefaring tourists that are only here for our guacamole, a Coke and a souvenir t-shirt. Or used super tech salesmen looking to make a fast "buck" from a planet full of ignorant backwater world primitives by using a bunch of Flash, Shock & Aw to dazzle the local-yokels into buying a whole lot of WAY OUTDATED junk, and the lone ambassador landing in Central Park with his giant robot to tell us we have to change our evil ways or else. Or . . . . . Yeah, Sci-Fi has given us a darn big mix over the years of just what an Alien Contact ~ might ~ be like. --- Just pray it ain't poetry spouting VOGONS!!!! LOL Keep It FUN! Dan G |
