Re: Introduction
Hello Miller, Angela and all, I recently wrote about a hand crank WW 8 that was for sale here in Ireland. I have a 9 hand crank and also a 9 treadle in a 6 drawer rosewood table. The hand crank came

Re: Introduction
Angela; It would appear that the vast majority of hand machines built by W&W were for the export market. My D-9 was bought from a dealer in Texas who had brought it back from England. The #9 I found

The company history is fascinating! Wilson sounds like an interesting man. I can't help wondering if his health was really as fragile as it's been represented in history. Brilliant minds do tend to be

Re: Hi and thanks for adding me #9 #introduction
Janice; That would be correct for a 1905-1908 9W1. They did not say Singer anywhere on them. When I mentioned Singer part numbers they were strictly numerals, 6 or 7 digit I forget for sure which. The

You're right, I did include too many zeros. My machine has only the Wheeler & Wilson name on the machine and the face place with the SN. Nowhere is the name Singer on my machine. It has only been

Hi Janice;I am not certain on the limits there, Dean takes care of the computer end of this partnership. There is however a manual for the 9W in the files section. Be sure & look over the files

Re: Hi and thanks for adding me #9 #introduction
Hi Janice; I believe you inadvertantly got an extra 0 into the SN. I suspect that should read 3,007,962 rather than 30,007,962. That's why I always put the commas in, easier than keeping up with the

Hi Janice; Yes, fascinating reading & for the most part reasonably accurate. There are however several things which I find glaringly in-accurate. First, nothing to do with actual sewing machines is

Re: Hi and thanks for adding me #9 #introduction
The serial number on my machine is 30007962 so it is possibly one of the last ones made by Wheeler & Wilson before Singer bought them out. My manual has Wheeler & Wilson Co. blotted out at the bottom

Yes, yes, yes! I put on some fresh thread and paid closer attention to how I threaded the bobbin thread and it is sewing properly. I have minor tension adjustments to make, but it sews. I also figured
