Re: Thank You
That machine is basically a version of the white sewing machine. You can tell by the bobbin cover and the upper assembly. Have fun On Thu, Feb 20, 2020, 8:51 AM <im.a.grandma.now2017@...> wrote:

Thank You
My name is Frances and we live in Bremerton, WA? USA.? I learned to sew as an 8 year old from my grandma on her Singer (which is still in the family).
?
Thank you for allowing me to join this group.? My husband bought this sewing machine about 8-9 years ago.? Due to his health we put it away and got it out again this winter.? The sewing machine has a metal tag on it saying "Wilson Rotary" 107X1772.? We are not sure of the date, make, or history.? It would be great to find out that information.? I sew/quilt everyday.? Being my husband's caregiver, sewing is a great stress reducer.? I would love to be able to sew on this machine.

Re: New member
Welcome Linda; Glad to have you aboard. As soon as you get Dugout from under the snow do send us a good description of your machine, preferably with pictures. We have several very knowledgeable folks here on W&W machines. Some of us will be able to answer most any question you might have. One exception is an exact build date, though we can give you a pretty close estimate. Miller/TN |

I just joined today I am a new member. My name is Linda from Idaho. I have a new friend I met in Montana and she gave me several of her favorite old sewing machines and one of them is a wheeler and Wilson machine but I don¡¯t know what kind yet. We drove up there in a snowstorm to bring these old machines home. Thank you for letting me join. I¡¯m hoping to learn a lot about this old girl and get her running. Linda in Idaho

Re: WW to Singer Side Clamp adapter??
If it helps I have been told that the presser feet for the Wheeler and Wilson are same as the Singer 107 zig zag series machine which has heritage back to the Wheeler and Wilson machines. Best regards, Mike

Re: No 8
The W&W #8 machine was introduced ca 1878 & made until replaced by the #9 in 1889. I do not know how high the SNs went bt mu #8 treadle is # 353,878. The SN would make your machine a rather early one, likely no later than 1880. Would love to see pictures?of it. You can link to my e-mail through the group here, f you would e-mail me some good pictures of both front & back. I may be able to tell you a bit more about it from them. Miller/TN? |

My daughter bought this machine at an estate sale in Montgomery, Al. Someone asked about the sticker being different and if I had it redone. We bought in this condition, but it looks like it is brand new. The cabinet has a few condition issues but for it's age it's in good shape. The treadle part is stamped Wheeler and Wilson but it is light and hard to see. Can you tell me if it's redone and maybe the age. Serial # 51056? |
Re: second part of the history of an early ww handcrank
but the history is not perfectly easy.? I turned the hook, re-mounted all, and the machine turned well with its old belt, and walked, a little crooked , not perfectly straight with her old style feed.? only, sometimes, the needle beated or slithered against the hook, the part behind. and the machine didn't sew
So, I remake all, I losed and refind the feeds screw, I remounted all. this time, the machine is very hard to turn, wirh the belt is impossible, with a key. the time seems right , the needle doesn't touch anything;and it it wan't sew.? Perhaps I tightened too much the screw of the drum?? ?i don't want do damage. it seems impossible that the belt is loosened in one fell swoop. I think to the screw. I'm going to post other three photos. Arrivederci |
Re: second part of the history of an early ww handcrank
Hi, Miller and all! urrah!? drunk of svitol, the spindle turns, now! I could see the sign in face. it is a sort of letter o carved out in the center nearly exactly under the screw.
the axis is not very dirty, but it couln't turn, after many years now, tomorrow, now is night. I must put the needle.? is the famous 'cut' of the booklet? relative to the lower position of arm-needle? and how can I substitute the glass foot? for now, many many many thanks? ? Cristiana ?
